For me: records 78 RPM and so forth.
1/4 inch R2R tape.
Play tape.
Cassette
8-track
Digital tape.

Along the same lines, my wife drives a 2024 VW Atlas and despite all of it's high tech features wanted a CD player so she can listen to books on CD from the library.

Easy to plug a CD player into a USB port and away it goes.

There are people like my wife out there :)
Not to mention that there's nothing like a well mastered SACD track.

Dont forget the maligned laserdisc
Nothing like bootlegged VHS movies when they first started appearing. If it was a great copy you might even be able to guess which movie it was.

Id like to know how you guys are playing from a USB stick or direct plug-in off of a phone. When ever I plug in my phone or music stick , there is no source option for the USB input and nothing happens. It just makes me stay on Bluetooth.

For the phone to be recognized as a file storage device, on Android you can specifically chose that you want the phone to appear as such.
Pull down from top and there should be a button to tap.
iPhone I don't know.

USB has to be partitioned using MBR (Master Boot Record) and then formatted as FAT32 or (better) ExFAT to be recognised.

Some modern USB drives are not partitioned like this especially if you use a Mac to transfer files.

Perhaps I'm "Old School". I have a bunch of MP3 music organized in directories by artist. The B&O system plays the files just fine. Problem is I cannot navigate to the directories! The system starts at the first directory and plays files sequentially. My 2018 WRX would allow me to navigate directories!
ANy ideas?
Sync 3 and 4 both have the option to browse by artist, album, genre or folder / subfolder.

But your new phone should be.
