Have a 2026 GT Premium on order to replace my surging/booming 2024 (automatic). Not happy to find out the following have been discontinued for 2026: Universal garage door opener, illuminated door sill plates, phone charger (gone in 2025), and convertible decklid spoiler. I can see making some of those optional, but not available at all?
I understand what you are saying about the A10 and a 2026 won’t fix that. As far as all the other features, complaints of the phone charger(assuming wireless charging pad is what you referring to) phones were just getting overheated. The homelinks in any vehicle will never be as good as an actual remote. My remote can hit 3 houses down while homelink have to be in my driveway. I should also mention this is with my GMC as when I have a trailer that’s need to clear my garage my truck is already in the street. The door sill plates I agree should have been optional but all this overall was a cost cutting decisions.

My home link buttons in the visor literally work from 4 houses away before I’ve even turned onto my street. Perhaps there is just a ton of interference where you live.

That could be one reason. I edited the post to mention this is coming from a GMC and not my mustang.

Are you saying the A10 problems I cited are common?

I believe so. This is not the first post I’ve seen talking about transmission surging. I just think it’s the computer trying to correct or adjust for the power needed for the incline. I experienced this when I just left it in automatic mode going on a group trip through Tail of the Dragon and The Great Smokey Mountains. I’ve started paddle shifting on these trips now.

I can tolerate the surging, it's the booming noises that are the main problem.

@Illini4 ..... that's unfortunate. I have never experienced that with my 2024 GT Premium Convertible 10R80 nor have I heard of that at local Mustang meets. I do have the gear "whine" that comes from the straight cut gears but I can't hear that, even with the top down, once I'm above 1200 RPM. I'm obviously not worried as I have placed an order for a 2026 Mustang GT Premium Convertible with the 10R80 because I am adding some extra options (like active valve exhaust) that did not come on my 2024.

I'm surprised at the response that de-contenting the 2026 Mustang is no big deal. All those missing items represent value, utility, and cool. It's just Ford's way of saying they really don't give a hoot in Hell about car buyers. I can see if these were problematic features, but it's just greed. Ford must be paying attention to Las Vegas casinos.

Regular production options have been changing on cars (All makes) for decades! I can remember the same kind ofcomplaints coming from car owners when cassette / CD players were slowly de-contented on vehicles over the past decade. Unless you only buy a car every 5 or 6 years or so you see it all the time. I've bought 3 new cars over the past two years, so it really is "no big deal" to me, you work around it. Ps, it's Ford, Stellantis, GM, casinos, airlines, insurance companies, banks etc etc etc. One mans greed is anothers brilliant marketing .........

It's not about changing options. It's about DELETING options, (many of them basic) and charging more for less.

Hmmm ...To me, a deletion is a "change", and, WHO isn't charging more for less..... We can beat up Ford, but, what is "basic" to you, might be something others wouldn't spec or buy if given a choice ..... Hell, I don't know, but, it's not likely that they will sell fewer Mustangs because door sills aren't lit, or garage door openers have been deleted .....

On the other end, as a model ages, manufacturers sometimes make options standard to keep it fresh and support value when they increase MSRP.

Not what is happening here. I do appreciate that the base price did not have a significant jump from 25 to 26. But I also do not understand deleting options vs making them a la carte selections like the 12 speaker B&O.

It would be interesting to understand the logic behind the decision. Are there that many savings in simplifying production!? Or is it something else that no amount of money will pay for a garage door opener or lighted sill.

Agreed. I would have paid extra for the lighted sills but maybe it was determined that there would not be enough orders to justify that option.
