Just got a recall 2024 Mustang - 26C40 ENGINE HARNESS GROUND EYELET REPLACEMENT

I was a ford engine tech for 32 years,
When I retired, I had to sleep at night, so I bought a 24 tacoma.
at 10k needed a transmission & TQ, they so it....
I pick it up, grease everywhere, get it home & new trans is leaking.
Go back in, they repair the leak, they completely drop the ball on the detail they promised me.
Take it back in cuz they didnt actually fix the leak, extension housing is still leaking cuz a bolt was drilled to far & sitting in trans fluid & its leaking past the threads.
take it back in for a second replacement trans & the detail they promised.
Its in the shop now.

Toyota techs are all bumper to bumper so theyre good at nothing.....

I'll gladly goo back to ford after this one, & thats the plan!

My last 4 daily drivers, going back to 2004 were are all Toyotas and NONE of them ever went back to the dealer for anything but an oil change and that was only 2 times I know of since I am a tech.

You know what I NEVER see in my shop for repair? Toyota products.

I have more Ford and GM stuff than we know what to do with,

I will admit Toyota has had problems, and they are having problems now, but unlike Ford they stand behind their product.

My Brother has a Honda model with a reputation for bad head gaskets. The other day Honda released a War & Peace sized bulletin that extended the warranty on the head gaskets of a whole bunch of their cars for 10 years/150K miles. His was on the list.

I could spend the rest of the day going thru design defects Ford has failed to address and left the owners on the hook for, starting with 5.4 Triton plugs up to current model cars with failing timing sets at less then 60K miles, but I won't

I love my 2025 GT. 21k miles of fun. Yes, the recalls are a PITA, but recall better than not fixing an issue. Getting ready to start a 2-3k mile trip. Will not be worried about recall issues!

Yeah, I knew Ford had issues before buying the Mustang, but thought since this is essentially the same car they've made since 2015, with some relatively minor updates, that it would be pretty sorted out. And we're 3 years into the current generation. Bad call on my end.

Description

On your vehicle, it may be possible for certain engine wire harness grounds to become broken under normal use. Depending on which ground eyelet fractures, this condition may result in a loss of motive power, loss of right and or left headlamps, loss of windshield washer fluid pump function, loss of air conditioning, and/or a non-working engine cooling fan. This condition may also be accompanied by an illuminated check engine light and an audible chime.

Safety Risk

A loss of motive power while driving increases the risk of a crash. A non-working headlamps may reduce the driver's visibility and/or make the vehicle less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. A non-working windshield washing system increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

A remedy is not yet available. Ford is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available on December 21, 2026.
