Just got a recall 2024 Mustang - 26C40 ENGINE HARNESS GROUND EYELET REPLACEMENT

There is absolutely no way I'll look to buy another Ford after my experience with this Dark Horse. We've had 2 Chargers, a Challenger, and a TRX in fairly recent years. They have all been great and the TRX in particular is just AMAZING. RAM also has some new and exciting trucks out now.

I feel the same way, this was my first Mustang and Ford and I will not be interested in buying another.

I know how to wrench on cars myself vs taking them to the dealer for every little thing including oil changes. If you don't know how to work on your vehicle that's fine for you. I like to turn the wrenches when modding and mostly maintaining my vehicles, but for just having a brand new car work the way it's supposed to from the factory, I'm not putting in the time and energy and money that Ford should have to. I can save a lot of money buying used vehicles for that.

This truly is an interesting thread on a forum that celebrates Mustangs. I as well have a 2015 Nissan Frontier ProX4 with 116000 miles, I’ve changed the oil, spark plugs, brakes and rotors (4 months ago), fixed a axel seal on the right rear, customized it in various ways. Runs like a top. Bought it used at less than 10K miles. I have wrenched my vehicles when needed and love the challenge, yet age physical limits ( damn I hate admitting) is slowing my abilities. I have a couple of great mechanics to rely on when needed. Spending almost 6 figures on vehicles and getting crap service, recalls without solutions, and a; oh by the way, the recall could result in a crash without a timelined solution is BS. So far I haven’t had any recalls on my Mustang. Fingers crossed.

here's some further details on the recall. affects 147,977 vehicles

In some of the affected vehicles, added heat-shrink caused an interference fit between the ground eyelets and sheet metal leading to distortion of the eyelets. Distorted engine wire harness grounds may break under normal vehicle vibration. A loss of ground G1D145 results in loss of motive power. A loss of ground G1D141 results in an inoperable right front headlamp, horn, windshield washer fluid pump, and air conditioning. A loss of ground G1D120 results in an inoperable left front headlamp. A loss of ground G1D143 causes an inoperable engine cooling fan, which may be accompanied by an illuminated check engine light and an audible chime.

i tried to find where these grounds are on the wiring diagrams, but it seems Ford has a different naming scheme for what's listed in the recall details vs what is numbered in the wiring diagrams

This would almost make me wonder if constant door lock query is a byproduct which eventually leads to dbs when bms encounters the anomaly. How many total eyes are there?

I was the guy...
Was a ford master certified, in engine repair, engine performance & drivability, manual trans & driveline, electrical, etc...
I was a ford tech for 32 years, retired at 51, back in 22.

Im a huge advocate for at least ford dealers, we specialize & most of us are good at what we do....
I get, everyone can have a bad experience, or a few...
Just drives me nuts, folks bashing on dealers, claiming they wrench on their own stuff & they can do better.
Yes, anyone can do brakes & an oil change, etc...
But then comes the real diagnostics & repairs nobody talks about or thinks about,'
The major repairs, the major internal engine repairs, rebuilding transmissions,
taking almost complete engines apart to replace 1 broken valve spring, diagnosing internal engine noises & getting the diagnosis right the first time...
I use to replace very complex engines & so confident in the repairs, I really didnt need to readiest them afterwards, no CEL afterwards, no additional unforeseen noises, or additional issues, etc...

Theres many very complex & extensive recalls, that will require alot of equipment, parts, etc...
Not like go to ford, ask for a free "recall kit" cuz youre going to do the repair yourself....
Theres recalls that require 5 huge boxes of extensive parts, etc...

As a "DIY guy" You own FDRS at $1200 a year?
Forescan, cant do everything.....

Youre saying you buy all these recall parts yourself & put them on?

Do you just not get them done cuz you dont trust the dealer.

An example...
Escape fire recall...
8 pages of instruction, 4 huge boxes of parts...

Then theres other recalls where youre taking dashes out, replacing engine, transmissions, super heavy electric batteries, etc...
Im just ranting at this point but just trying to give you some perspective to you being anti dealer.

I get the bad experience, Im going through that now with toyota.
Theyre techs are bumper to bumper so they not good at anything.

Ford specializes, a lube tech wont be rebuilding a 10 speed auto trans...
a brake & electrical specialist wont be replacing a cylinder head due to a burnt valve on your coyote....
Engine guy wont be doing CVT clutches or a heater core....

Sounds like you just chose to not get the recalls done at all....
I dont see why you would buy the parts yourself & pay out of pocket....

Ive been retired since end off 22, whats the cliff note version of the DH issues you were having.My buddy has one & its been in the shop alot for battery issues, think it may even go into failsafe mode...
Dodge trucks have their issues, stilantis or however you spell it is swirling the toilet, theyre warranty absolutely sucks, etc...

My 2024 tacoma with 10 k, needed a trans & TQ
they install it & I take it home & that day the tran is leaking at the extension housing to main case silicone mating surface.
take it back, they reseal, still leaking after I drive it home.
take it back & now theyre putting in trans #2.

Theyre techs are so lame, cant realize the trans is leaking, x2.....

I cant speak for other ford dealers around the US but my team here in San Diego, we were good at what we did...
We didnt jump from dealer to dealer, trying to chase the 50 cent raise.
we were lifers, 30-40 years in the business...

Yes, theres always a bad apple, a bad experience, bad luck when it comes to failures.
Yes, cars arent made like they use to be...
Give me a 200hp 91 -93 fox body, Ill be happy!!!!

But the coyote motor has been a proven engine assy that doesnt have a ton of issues....

Again, dodge engine arent the best, they have their issues too...

No reason to do a recall yourself, pay out of pocket, cuz you have trust issues & feel you can do it better...

As stated, been an engine tech for 32 years, im 54 now & capable of changing my own oil...
F@k that, not worth my time.

Theres recalls / tsb's to replace entire engines....
