I have noticed that the speed sign recognition system is not always accurate.
For instance, on a recent trip to Montana the speed sign recognition system correctly detected a speed limit of 70 mph, however on one section of the highway the speed detection system showed a speed of 45 mph and my vehicle immediately slowed down to 45 mph on the highway. I reset the cruise control to the actual speed limit of 70 mph and continued on my way. There was no constuction or any lower speed limit signs on that stretch of highway. The speed limit on this entire section of highway was 70 mph. This unexpected reduction of speed happened several other times (on state highways and the interstate) during the 1,400-mile round trip.
As recently as yesterday, I was traveling on a county highway with a posted speed limit of 55. Twice during this 10-mile section of highway the speed sign recognition system went unexpectedly from 55 mph to 25 mph. Again, on this section of highway there was no speed limit sign indicating a slower posted speed limit on this entire section of highway.
During this trip yesterday I was using adaptive cruise control, and this happened with the lane keeping system turned on, and again when I turned it off.
Have any of you experienced this situation with the speed sign recognition system with the adaptive cruise control turned on?
