Interior plastics sticky/melted?

Anyone else notice their interior plastics (tops of the door cards, rear deck under the glass) have gotten sticky?

I think due to UV/heat exposure. I haven't applied chemicals to the plastic. Car was only assembled 4 months ago, and I've experienced this on multiple S650s. It's not the end of the world, but scary this is happening only a few months into ownership. I don't live in a hot desert climate, and I park inside a garage.

I assume this is just "normal" for whatever material Ford is using now... anyone else have this?

That's kinda alarming. I'm on my 4th Mustang all different generations and never seen nor heard of this happening. All my cars lived outside with no Sun shades.

Maybe the dealer applied something when the car was detailed before delivery. Have not heard of this happening here in AZ.

I'm almost at 30k miles, just checked and nothing. Are you close to the ocean? Maybe the salty air could be causing it?

Another thought is if you had window tint applied they used something that left a sticky residue on the trim.

I just noticed this the other day on my 2026. I purchased it 5 months ago. I touched the top of the door card towards the front of the driver side window and thought immediately whatever I cleaned it with must have left a residue. I then thought about it and realized ive never cleaned it.

This is happening in my car too on the top of the door card. I do have an air freshener in the car though. Im not sure it would cause it to be that sticky though. This is like old bmw interior levels of gummy lol.

Yes, air fresheners will do this. The solvents in them cause lifting of the surface even when not in direct contact.

Yes, mine has this issue, specifically on the plastic behind the dash screen. I have no tint and don’t use air fresheners. I figured it may be due to UV exposure when the car has been parked outside (car shows, etc) car is parked in the garage otherwise.

dude, youre in cali....
its been over 100 recently & lately....
get some ceramic tint, along with a windshield shade if you park outside.
actually cover it on really hot days...

I have certainly seen the sticky residue from detail products used at dealers... though not on my Mustangs...
