Interior light switching on

The 2 interior lights adjacent to the mirror only go on if the ignition is switched on. In other words I am getting into a dark car. If I open the door with the ignition on the lights come on. 9The engine does not have to be running) The trunk light comes on whenever I open the trunk. How do I set the interior lights to do the same?

There is a rocker switch right by the lights themselves. All off (apparently where it is set now). Always on, and automatic (switched).

if I am in the car with the electronic ignition on, and I open the door the lights come on
if I am coming from the outside, and the ig nation is not on, and I open the door the lights do not come on

Mine don't come on either. Not even with engine on and door open.

The light switch is centered. Both door switches seem to work as I get the Door Ajar warning for both sides.

Really annoying when you are entering to leaving the car.

The lights work normally when I flick the switch left.

What could this be?
