Exactly where I have mine mounted. :like:
Any lower, and you compromise depth perception.

My biggest question for Advanced ICE would be, how/where does the camera cable get through the firewall?

Its pretty simple. There is a gromet right next to the battery on the passenger side that drops straight down in the passenger footwell. There is a post on facebook from one of the testers that shows how neat the installation they perform is.

G'day everybody, it was my car that was fitted with the finalised camera setup. Here's what I wrote on the S650 Owners page on Facebook:

Even at 6ft+ I struggle to park my wife's Mustang in the many "nose in" parking spots that abound here on the Sunshine Coast. Any obstacle closer than 4.5m disappears below the bonnet line. No amount of PPF is going to protect the front end from a low speed impact.
Yes, $100 spent on Temu would probably get you a camera, switch and monitor to attach with cable ties and double-sided tape but I wanted something closer to an OEM solution. My quest had been fruitless until I stumbled upon Advanced ICE in the Brisbane suburb of Stafford. They are an automotive communications development specialist and have been working on an integrated front camera solution for the last 2 years. They were looking for a test mule for their finalised version so I offered up Balloo.

They installed a dedicated front parking camera (not a dashcam) offering 1080p HD resolution at 30fps and 170-degree field of view all hooked up to their proprietary box of tricks which allows activation via the car's screen when you doubleclick the OK button on the steering wheel.

I couldn't be more delighted with their efforts! Getting this close to a seamless OEM solution doesn't come cheap, afterall they have to recoup their development expenditure but there is currently nothing else on the market that comes remotely close. Even their wiring (secured to the bonnet release cable) looks like part of the original loom.

So how much? The camera and the box of tricks costs $1249 and installation is a further $550. Still cheaper than PPF or a replaced and painted front end.

If you aren't close to Brisbane, Advanced ICE work with installation partners throughout Australia. They also intend producing a DIY kit for the more technically competent. Hit them up on their website for more info and to register your interest:

I got offered the guinea-pig role as well, but I couldn't get my car to them on the days they needed it, so now I have to pay full price...:frown:
