Just curious - I've done many "track events" before where I drive their cars, and never added the supplemental insurance - as I'm not going to do something stupid... and feel like it's kind of a way to get "more money" out of me.

Anyone feel it's necessary for the Mustang Unleashed program? Doing the driving school with my wife on August 10th / 11th - and I'm getting emails telling me to purchase the necessary additional insurance"...

Any first hand experience would be helpful thanks!

I bought it simply for piece of mind. It isn't that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Same....they ran 2 cars at a time on the drag strip when I was there.....crazy crap can happen at 117mph.....especially if another person is involved.

Its not you doing something stupid that you have to worry about, it's the other drivers. How would you feel if some noob spun out in front of you and hit your car? Then you'd be stuck paying out of pocket because your regular insurance would deny claim. I personally think its worth the couple hundred bucks for the peice of mind.

I cannot speak to Mustang Unleashed. A couple years ago I attended one of the driver experience events (Christmas Present from Wife). My wife purchased the highest/premium coverage - Premium 125k coverage with 2k deductible. Coverage is required no way around it. Three tiers from basic to premium is the only option.
Different events with one thing in common. That being possible damage that can get expensive quick. I drove two different vehicles. First was Ferrari 296 GTB. Second was a Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4. The first thing they tell you leaving the pits is the value of the vehicle you're driving. I was like geez thanks for helping me relax.

Insurance is literally money down the drain that empties into the insurer's vault. Until you need it and don't have it. Such events can be life changing.
