If you like your build enough to go into a dealership and order it, keep it. If you can handle the extra cost without it impacting your life, get the DH built the way you want it.

If that means you need to wait a bit longer to save, so be it. It’ll be that much sweeter when you get it. I waited for my GT until I could buy it outright and have no regrets. I don’t notice the 14 HP I’m missing from a DH.

Would a compromise be to get this 2025 DH from your dealer instead? If you’re not married to the idea of white with bronze, this one looks great and I bet you can negotiate to less than your current order price, not to mention having it this week. Make sure you don’t pay that “advertising fee” if you do, or charge the dealer a $329 fee for picking up the car.
Cannot do vapor. But I’ve been looking at grabber in videos and it looks amazing. What do you think?

What do you think of grabber blue?
Love it. There are two colors I wanted when I bought mine, Grabber Blue and Carbonized Grey Metallic. If you have the option I would absolutely go with the GB, you rarely see any in the wild.

It’s kinda hard to pull the trigger on that color but all the videos especially in the showroom are really making me think twice about white

So I actually have this ordered here is my build sheet, but I’m thinking of canceling tomorrow and ordering a dark horse. But I can only add one option like the handling package. The price difference is pretty steep but I just love the look and the notoriety of driving a dark horse down the street..Any opinions?

I was in a very similar situation. I was determined to get a DH, I had searched for weeks last April, money was burning a hole in my savings account. I saw many cars around 70K, and I loved that green/blue color I forgot the name of, but I discovered this thing called the Performance Package (PP).

Looking over the specs aside from the transmission difference, and mine also not being a daily driver I got interested, they seemed to be 5-10K less with a little less HP and different badges. However, every GT with PP I saw around me was basically being sent to Shelby or Rousch, I figured this out by checking dealer sites and it not being there, and a Shelby was there instead.

I considered both the DH and the PP, but was at a toss up until.... Somewhere in the cornfields of Illinois, (like 3 hours from me) I found a Carbon GT with PP Mfg date like 2/2023. it had 533 miles on it. It was like some pre-production or practice production unit they played on the track with.. (I had to buy new tires lol)

Had a great little road trip and scored it for like 52-53K OTD with extended warranty. Kept the 20K, and might add mods. After driving it, and it having the PP I was happy with my choice.

TL/DR You will be happy either way, the PP drives excellently, and handles super well in corners.

^ This. The DH is a fantastic car. If you want one and can afford it, then get it. But I've always maintained there just isnt enough separation between a PP GT and a base DH. The suspension specs are the same (unless you get the Handling Package). Both have additional cooling. Really the main differences are just the Tremec if you get the manual, the rear diff cooler, and the badging.

I agree with most of what you’re saying. I’ve been hunting a car for a while now what I really want is an older model between 2010 and 2013. I’ve had many Shelbys in that era and it’s worth the money but can’t find a really good one. Had a deposit on a 2022 Mach 1 with every available option, including rear seat delete it had just under 3000 miles on it until I read a thread on here that the guy was selling his. Reading on it had Oil pan issues. They had to drop the chassis to replace the oil pan he replaced the windshield. Had a 3 inch crack on the underbelly. It did not have the original Wheels. He had them and he had all the paperwork no way am I taking the car like that so I just said let me settle for a GT performance pack the whole nine but soon after I ordered it, I found myself looking to change things putting a black spoiler on it the front chin, spoiler, etc, and trying to make it a dark horse or something that it’s not. That’s like back in the day with the fox body people trying to make a fake Cobra. This is where it becomes a problem. I’m trying to make something that I wanted originally out of nothing so I canceled the order. I’m either going to get the dark horse or find an older one with real gauges because that dashboard I don’t know if I can take.

My solution was really just have at least 2.. none being daily drivers.

in reality.. I'm just a junkie.

But deciding on the s650 was a real challenge. I have no idea what to do with the Mach1 it needs updates. (the 65 is technically my son's car in a few months) I did just get to drive the S650 for the first time in like 4 months, and it drives so nice. I think figuring out what you want is a big part of the fun.

Absolutely the fun. It’s the hunt that is the high. I would like to find another Mach 1 in reality. I had the GT 350 also

If you're not ever going to take it to a track, the GT is smarter money.
The Dark Horse is a track focused car. Especially with the handling package. Seems like a big waste just to pay for some graphics if thats all you like.
if you're a manual transmission person, the Tremec is well worth the upcharge for the DH; with a GT optioned the same as the DH you're only looking at about $3K.
