I hear HP size tires and wheels arent necessarily the greatest to daily drive in……has anyone made the move from stock darkhorse tires/wheels to HP size and regretted it???
I daily HP car with the stock wheels and love them. I have no issues other than lack of available tire options in the stock size. When My Trefeos are worn down I will be making the switch to the Michelin PS4s for my summer tires. I have a set of PP wheels with pirelli UHP all seasons that I have been impressed with for the cold season here in MD. The only time my car gets parked here is when the salt hits the road.

I put Ford Performance HP wheels on this summer. They're exactly the same specs as the Dark Horse non HP wheels and they were only $880 on sale. I like how the matte black finish looks.

thats great feedback. Thank you for sharing. Sounds like youre doing exactly what i do. Im up in CT. Salt comes out and it stays parked until the rain washes it away… but otherwise daily driving it.

Do you ever experience the ‘tramlining’ around town that i always hear people complaining about with wider tires…? or is that a hoax

I do on roads that you can see the uneven pavement. I think a lot of that has to do with the Trefeos though. Sport mode seems to tame that issue though. My last mustang that was an '02 had 255s on it and did the same so I kind of expected it. First thing I did was have the dealer do an alignment on it under warranty and take some of the negative camber out of it and that tamed it even more. The factory alignment is crap on all of these cars. My steering wheel was about 4 degrees off center as well.

gotcha. thats great information.

I dont have any complaints with the stock wheel/tire widths of the non hp darkhorse necessarily....And i know its an unpopular opinion but i like the stock look of the tire/wheel/fender ratios and spacing. I would never consider doing 20 inch wheels nor lowering springs etc.

I do frequently wonder if theres a significant performance advantage those wider hp size wheels/tires give though.......If i could keep all the other ratios and space the same except increase width id definitely consider it. Hrmmmmm.

The HP wheels definitely track wider than the non HP cars. My winter rims came off of a PP GT and need the 1"spacer to sit right on the car, especially with the HP fender flares.

For the set but you do have to get different TPMS as the ones that come with the wheels are for the previous generations.

That's a damn good deal. Even with buying a set of sensors.

FYI Ford Performance now sells OEM DH wheels in a satin black, bronze, or gray (OEM). I really love my DH, but the wheels I would have preferred black and the tips of the exhaust polished….black tips….when I have spent countless hours shining up the exhaust tips over the past 50 years……..I don’t get it.
The factory black paint wipes off the tips with some brakleen. They are stainless underneath and easily polished to a high shine and looks much better that way. Gives the car some brightness.

I masked and painted the outside back black but the whole tip will polish out.

These look great! I was thinking about doing mine in the Ford Blue Ember Metallic from Prismatic Powders to match the body of the car.
