This might sound stupid, but I wanted to remove my car battery to charge it at home, but when opening the hood I saw that there is another unknown wire attached to the battery, so I aborted the mission to find out what this cable is for and how to remove it before damaging something.

I watched a tutorial on YouTube on how to replace a car battery on the Mustang and could only find the S550 model. This car did not have this extra wire attached to the battery, so I have no clue what or how to do this.

See the rubber hose or wire that is attached to the side of the battery. What is this for and how to remove it?

Edit: No I found out it's just an easy hose to remove and I stumbled on a new thing I can't figure out.

The positive side. How the heck do I remove that one? I see 2 bolts and I also see some plastic clips under the positive side that holds iit in place. And there is even a wire attached to the positive like a bridge going to the negative. I can't seperate those from each other.

How do I remove the positive and that bridge between them?

That looks like a breather vent. Don't think it's anything to worry about , probably isn't even attached to anything on the other end.

That's my guess.

Thanks. I stumbled on a new thing now.
I have no idea how to remove the positive. I see two bolts and there is a whole construction built around the positive which I can't figure out.

Another achievement lol.

First time ever removing a car battery.
Nothing comes easy when I try to do something new. There is always something different on my car compared to youtube video's of other Mustangs.

There aren't that many S650 video's online so I had to watch the S550 which was different.

Keep in mind that port vents hydrogen and oxygen gasses while you're charging it.

Less of an issue if it's on a trickle charger, but keep it in mind if its in a small sealed room, or you're dumping tons of current into it.

Also, usually the vent elbow slides easily out of the battery, instead of removing the hose from the elbow. If you ever replace the battery, transfer the elbow to the new battery in the same port, and use the plastic nub that breaks off on the new batteries positive terminal cover to block off the other vent port (there's usually a pair of vent holes to accommodate different ways of mounting the battery)
