I just picked up my car that I ordered... roughly 6 months .... it has 27.8 miles on it when I hopped in at the dealer... I am disappointed in that, among other things, but I am curious if these just come with that many miles or if mine was test driven a few times before I got to pick it up. It arrived 9/11 and I was told it just needed the pDI done ... well, the PDI apparently took a week to complete.

The following thread has several pages of responses, to give you a feel for others' mileage.

https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/how-many-miles-were-on-your-car-at-delivery.159332/

The mileage you received the vehicle at would not be unusual.

At the low end, 8 miles, 13 km.

At the upper end, 20+ miles, 32 km.

To the West of the Flat Rock plant, there is a test track. Ford will randomly pull cars from the line and perform additional QC testing; this is where the majority of the additional miles come from.

Before the car leaves Flat Rock, the vehicle is placed in Transport Mode.

The dealer will fill the tank once received. Depending on the location, that's a few miles.

So while you're at the upper end, I'd not be concerned.

We'll never know how our cars and trucks were treated in the miles driven before received. With modern parts, assemblies and oils, the risk of any damage or bad wear is, IMO, remote.

Enjoy the new car.

Doesn't sound right. 27.8 miles is steep for a newly order vehicle and PDI does NOT take a week to perform. Seems a little shady to me. Mine had almost 6 miles on it when it came off the truck.

I think anything north of 10 miles is questionable. Perhaps yours incurred some miles in transit, maybe they needed to transfer it to another rail car or something. Since it was ordered I doubt it was involved in a dealer trade. Miles can accrue with trades between dealers. Even if the dealer took it for a PDI ride, I've never seen a new one north of 10 miles. Something is definitely up. You are right to be disappointed.

Mine had 25 miles on it. I ordered and pick it up at the Dealership. When I arrived there, I was treated like nobody, when they knew they I was picking up the GT they were all treating me better. Really bad vibes from this Dealership.

12 miles. PDI took … less than 9 hours 🤷🏽‍♂️ was texted at 130pm it was there and in my garage by 6pm. My salesman had mine moved to the front for the day. I don’t think they bothered to have it put online or anything back end wise. One of the employees was going to grab it if I didn’t take it 😂

5.2 miles. It was a GT/CS sitting on the showroom floor at Brattleboro Ford in Vermont. I assumed nobody in New England wanted a Black California Special ... but I was happy to bring her home

Regarding inspections and the pick-up process, I can only speak to my experience and what I learned.

My car arrived at the dealer with seven others (all different models). The dealer prep team was comprised of three people. The time for them to prep my car and the paperwork was three business days. While there is the physical inspection, people in the front office are working through the documents, setting appointments, blocking inspection time for customers, etc.

Before taking receipt, I thoroughly went through the car, twice. They were cool, wanting to make sure I was comfortable with everything before signing.

At the time, I was given three days to file any damage claims. Afterwards, the shipper would be off the hook. Fortunately, I didn't have any issues.

Regarding timelines, it depends. The workload when my car arrived was moderate. And on some of these cars, things need to be installed, not all the bits arriving before or with the car. My front fender lips for example, shipped later.

At the other extreme, I learned yesterday my dealer received a rail car full of F250s. Depending on dealer workload, people on vacation, appointments, days of the week, etc, something like that is going to take a while.

I was never concerned about my wait. Actually, I appreciated it. They called my twice to confirm my preferences and we actually went into detail on the front splitter. I'd rather give them all the time they need to do a correct job than rush.

YMMV.

I did not order mine. I was searching for a 6 speed manual for months and found a new arrival. It had 21 miles on it when I test drove it and then bought it 2 months ago.
