Hey Ford, just a question

@Ford Motor Company

Why is it if the car is parked, still running after driving then I take my seat belt off, I can no longer change the displayed menu on the gauge cluster. All I can see is the alert that the drivers seatbelt is off.

However, if the dealership airs my tires up to 47 PSI causing them to tear along a seam, The driver information centre AND the online app (ford pass) say 47 PSI is "good"

I guess I just don't understand the disparity in safety measures. If the car is parked I can't dismiss a safety alert about my seatbelt, but I can drive along freely with vastly over inflated tires without the computer batting an eye, or even suggesting my tires are over pressured and letting me dismiss the warning.

I learned that early after joining this forum. If they do reply it's like this: "Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end."

What we other users don't know is if there is actually anything that comes of sending a private message to them.

Also getting out of a car with the engine running has led to several fatal accidents where the car has run over the driver once they got out.
The reminder should be more turn off your engine, than put your seatbelt back on.
The cars in park. Also pretty sure the car will automatically engage the e-brake if I try to open the door with the engine running while it's in gear, to prevent the exact thing you're talking about.

Of course they don't. However I can still wag my finger at them in a public forum.

My F150 will put the truck into Park if you are in Drive and you open the door.

Hopefully they have learnt the lesson and do now.

Anton Yelchin assumed the same when he jumped out of his car to check his mail, only for the car to roll and trap him against a wall.
Quoting -
NHTSA began investigating the unconventional gearstick design on these cars, which was causing crashes because drivers were mistakenly shifting to neutral when they thought they were shifting to park.
With a regular gearstick, drivers choose a transmission option (park, reverse, neutral, drive, etc.) by moving the stick into the corresponding notch or detent. Drivers can feel the stick settle into position.
But a new, different, design was used in the cars affected by the recall, which include certain recent models of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

What happened to Anton Yelchin was tragic.

Chryslers inability to properly design a gear shift lever has little to do with Ford preventing me from cycling through menus in the gauge cluster because my seatbelt is off while the car is most definitely in park.

There is at least some hope for suppressing the seat belt overlay:

However, it may or may not work on our cars. On mine it didn’t, nor did any other IPC update. YMMV

He won't ever do that again, hope more than you and I learned from it 😉

Perhaps they should. Quality is clearly not Job 1 with Ford anymore and a closer look at direct feedback from your customers is never a bad thing.

Well wifey's 2024 VW Atlas has this little thing on the console that you push/pull to select D or R and I'll be honest it's really easy to select the wrong direction. It will apply the PB if you try o do something stupid and will also beep and hit the brakes if you are about to crash into oncoming traffic or the fence etc. Takes time to get used to.

But they don't. That was my only point.

Posting here and expecting Ford to read it and answer is like peeing yourself in a dark suit: You get a warm feeling, but nobody notices.

Can’t argue your point. I like the analogy…
