Got denied for a GTD. What's the next regular high performance Mustang coming down the pike?

Wow, I just checked the price of that car, are you kidding? Look I like mustangs as much as the next guy but if you got that kind of cheddar your a moron spending it on a mustang.
It's hard to say. As someone who loves supercars, and loves the mustang and other muscle cars, the idea of a "super muscle car" is really badass to me. I mean, this isn't just a mustang with a supercharged V8 job done. It's a mustang with a supercharged V8, a rear mounted dual clutch transmission, a full carbon fiber wide body, insane active areo, crazy brakes and tires, F1 inspired suspension, and recycled parts from an f22 fighter jet amongst other things. In a world where a gt500 is pushing 100k, there's no way a car like the GTD wasn't gonna be expensive as hell.

It's without a doubt the most balls to the wall front engine American production car we've ever seen. Not to mention with a sub 7 min time at the 'ring, that means this thing is going around a track faster than a McLaren p1, a multi million dollar mid-engine exotic. Every car at its performance level is at least in the 6 figures, and there's a good chance we'll never see another car exactly like it. So with all that in mind, I understand why it's a 6 figure car. Hell, the Dodge demon 170 is a 6 figure car, and that's just a demon meant to go in a straight line. It's fine, but it's like 5 rungs below the GTD in cool factor.

I get the price is insane, but it's an insane car. It's not very often that we get a gt3 race car for the road with even more to fast tech and bits added to it. On the used car market, I predict the GTD values will go nuts, then kinda level off, maybe even depreciate a bit. But in 20-30 years, the GTD feels like one of those cars that's gonna be fetching serious numbers at auctions. Last of it's kind, the greatest ICE muscle car to ever exist, and something that's basically the last of it's kind.

I've never been one to chase this sort of crap, having the best car around. I buy what I like and not what I think others would be impressed by. It happens to be partially why I'm conflicted between Porsche and Mustangs. I like them both, and why I'd love to have a GTD. Porsche has a pretentiousness to the brand that many gravitate to, which i dislike. Mustang really doesn't have that so much.
Not to mention the GT3 style 911 feels like it's been a thing for quite some time. So while it's still special, it doesn't feel as special as the GTD, I can hear the collective gasps from here. The GTD is the first of it's kind, we've never seen a factory muscle car like this before where just every aspect is cranked up to 11, the chassis, powertrain, areo, etc. Not to mention Ford nails it with areo driven designs.

So many brands like McLaren with the senna make areo design look tacked on, the GTD looks incredible to me. I can't really get into most Porsche's. They look like bulbous squatting frogs with those beady little round headlines. Hate that blob, melted looking shape.

It's impressive, but I'd rather buy an Audi R8 AND a cabin lol.

325,000 for the car.
161,395 for a R8
But hey its all up to the value to the owner right. For me, I'd rather buy a r8 and a cabin lol.
I want to know where you live where a cabin can be purchased for like 160 grand lol? In Utah, a townhouse is like 500k. But to be fair, everyone is moving here leading to insane demand for housing lol.

Sry but that sounds like a lot of marketing blabla (fighter jet stuff, F1 brakes etc.).

The fact is that the GTD has to prove itself. One would assume that the GTD should race the Green Hell in sub 7 minutes but that’s not that easy. I hope that the GTD does well but history has shown that the Nürburgring is very demanding and challenging for man and machine likewise. Apples to apples the GTD should crush the GT3 RS time as it has 50% more hp and a similar aero tuning. In reality I doubt that that will happen.
Besides, the GTD is way overpriced. The GT3 RS starts at 250K and is on pair with the GTD, the new Corvette ZR1 will most likely cost below 200K and will again, most likely, beat the GTD in any meaningful way.Actually, I think the only reason Ford is selling the GTD is because they have to if they want to race it. If they could race the S650 they would but the GTD has literally nothing in common with the S650 except for some interior parts and the headlights maybe. No GTD no racing.
They could easily do what Porsche does, which is selling the GT3 / GTD to everyone interested but exclusivity is always selling well. Ford did the same with the GT, no need to limit it other than exclusivity.

I do agree that prices will be stable or go through the roof depending on the success of the race program. It’s also great to see that Ford still cares about V8s and racing. However, the GTD has nothing important in common with the S650, it’s Mustang DNA ~being a bargain (performance) car with a big engine for everybody~ is not there and at the end of the day it’s “just” an overpriced track tool that looks amazing but isn’t attainable by anybody but the 1%. If being a long time customer like @Rated R isn't enough to buy a Mustang I feel sorry for the company and the brand.

Thought I had a legit shot at it but it wasn't meant to be I guess. What's going to be the next high performance variant coming down the Flat Rock line? Someone please say Boss 429...
It sounds like they will have another "halo" level vehicle that slots in where the GT500 was. I have heard rumors as I'm sure everyone else has that it won't be using the Shelby naming strategy as in the past. I'm partial to Cobra like the 1992-2004 era, but who knows. A 5.2 Supercharged V8 should power it, I would love it if it came with the option for a manual as well, but I'd be surprised if that happens. Usually they come out with something innovative when the release a new halo car like magentic ride, DCT, etc.

I would anticipate it as a 2026 Model year unit if you look at their past timing on releasing the halo car versus the new body style.

@MAT1955 it’s great that there are many aftermarket options for Mustang performamce and most of us are aware of them. No doubt there will be more over the years as people don’t quite feel satisfied with the current lineup or prices. Even these “balanced aftermarket builds” however, won’t touch the GTD suspension.

but I was specifically responding to a very specific comment someone posted about bolting on some FI and then going GTD “hunting, including taking a camera crew to document the pwnage. Was simply pointing out that it doesn’t work that way and would end in embarassmEnt for that person. Just trying to be the voice of reason.

I mean, marketing blah blah blah as you put it isn't a bad thing, nor does it mean a product isn't good. It's a marketing blah blah blah that sells cars. If there was no marketing blah blah blah, every car company would go out of business. But I do agree, the GTD does need to prove itself. I believe Ford will post the official time for the GTD 'ring run this year. That's what they were saying. So not long now.

hahah,

Saskatchewan, Canada, easily buy a cabin for that amount, just you know, it's not like we have oh, real beaches/ocean/anything worth building a cabin around unless you go far up north!

Brother... I'm sorry, but I promise you one thing! Those cars will be immediately for sale with 1000-3000 miles on them! Plus they haven't dropped the power figures.. anything under corvetter ZR-1 numbers would be sad for that price!
The Shelby Super Snake is putting 830HP down, not bad! I went with the Darkhorse and have a full setup coming with the New Whipple that should get me damn near 980HP
So says my dealer and the paper work, I know how that usually goes though lol.

Honestly, I doubt that other than a four door Mustang we won't see a GT500. First, the price of the GT500 will be beyond what most people can afford. IMHO, I would buy a new Corvette over an overpriced GT500,
Ford will zero in on an ECOBOOST 4-door to compete with the cheaper foreign labeled sedans out there.
If the political environment doesn't change, we will see the malaise era of vehicles upon us again.
Enjoy that COYOTE GT as long as you can. A Bi-DUNG Dragon may be your next thrilling ride!
That's what I was thinking too. You can get a bone stock GT and install a whipple supercharger for 800HP for less than $70K, and I presume a GT500 would be $80K+ which is Corvette and Porsche territory.

I actually waited for the price of the Shelby super snakes to come out because I probably would have bought one for $100k instead of the GT but not for $165k! I can supercharge my GT and stay under half that.

I hope everything you say comes to fruition except I hope it has a manual.

I gotta find a way to snag one without ADM
