Hey all, new to this forum and the Mustang world. Purchased a lovely grabber blue Mustang GT V8 manual but…

When I engage any gear, but especially 1-3, it makes a subtle noise (in addition to the glorious v8 grumble). Seems to get louder with when I accelerate. Whine/rattle in nature. Definitely distinct from the rev of the engine.

Gear box mesh / bearing issue … or just normal gearbox whine for the manual 2025 model?

Dealership are unsure as they don’t have any other manual models to compare (I’m in rural Australia)

any advice or reassurance would be appreciated

Mine does it too, only in 3rd. However it goes away if I try holding the stick. Increase with throttle upto a certain rpm. Though I only hear it when I’m not enjoying the car lol

maybe it’s a ‘25 thing

Opposite here, mine makes more noise when holding the stick.

Mine does it as well. Weird rattle kind of noise that fades in and out. It changes when i press the clutch. The car runs good otherwise. Will probably hold off till first oil change to ask my dealer about it. Until then will turn up the radio.

I have an automatic for the first time in a "sports car" but can't remember any manual transmission I've ever had (many) that didn't whine in one gear or another. FWIW.

Thanks for the replies, good to know it’s not isolated.
Will ask the dealership to inspect it during the first service.

Mine makes an unpleasant whine when stone cold in 1st/2nd, which can be totally removed by touching the clutch even slightly. It goes away so quickly with use that I don't hear it once out of my street.

It doesn't sound like gearbox whine (in the straight-cut sense), more like a slipping belt.

As it only happens for a few seconds and is clearly related to the clutch, I put it down to tight components warming and loosening up.

My Toyota 86 whined like it had straight cut gears. Well maybe that's exaggerating a bit, but it was a surprise when I first drove it. Full synth oil quietened it a bit.

Totally normal. Every single one of the manual cars make noise.
