Left screen didn't start up today. Turned car off and on again and still didn't function.
~1K miles, ~1 month old.

Was not in the heat, parked in a garage in temperate Northern California. No issues last time I drove it.

The 2nd time I started the car up today with the black screen, it gave some kind of chime 3x. Some kind of error code? I couldn't see the screen so couldn't tell. Nothing shows up on FordPass.

Found a Reddit post with the exact same issue but no real informative comments or resolution ()

Anyone else had this? How did you resolve it?

I have had my infotainment screen take a few minutes. This is concerning because this was my concerned for even getting a new Mustang. Nothing wrong with the tried and true tach. What do I know. I hope you get it resolved. Please let us know what happened.

Well, since it's a brand new car under warranty, the resolution is likely obvious, eh? :D

IDK if it will work like the center screen but...

Last week, I started up my ’17 Raptor, and was in a hurry. I started with the buttons before sync finished starting up and boom. For only the 2nd time, I had a stuck screen in sync-

Radio was on, could not change it, no interactivity. So basically like an early 2000’s car. I had a suspicion if I was patient it would just resolve itself, and I was correct. However, it’s not a fast condition. I tried ignition cycle, wait for the power down, but the screen remained active so I just went about my business. Picked up some stuff at a store, was in for about 15 minutes, maybe 20. Everything fine when I restarted. I’d seen this before, but totally blank once.
So it had to cycle off, and shut down the screen which I guess has a longer timeout value?

So try full shutdown, give it an hour and retry. if it’s back to normal, move on with life unless it happens again.

You could connect to FORSCAN and check for DTC’s, probably IPC. clearing them may, or may not help, but if you do find and clear codes, write down or take a picture first.

You could try rebooting the system. However, the manual shows only how to reboot the center screen.

You can reboot the center display using the controls on the steering wheel. Simultaneously press and hold the seek forward and audio system power button for 10 seconds.

i am not sure this will reboot the left screen thought. You may try.

I'll let it sit most of the day and try again later, then maybe try pulling the fuse, and unplugging the battery. Seems to be different than the multimedia screen lag/frozen/blackout issues (various Ford models and both S650 and S550 Mustangs apparently).

Found another Reddit post of my same issue, on a 1-day old Mustang ( Day old 2024 Mustang Ecoboost gauge cluster black screen of death : r/Mustang (reddit.com) ). Per that thread, Ford is supposedly aware and working on an update to come in October... who knows if true.

Hello, if you send us a message with your VIN and mileage, I would be happy to take a further look into your screen concerns.

used my car this morning no issues and at 263 miles, then later today at noon turned it on and now the gauge screen is blank. at first thought it was a low battery issue since the car sat in the garage for a few days while the ceramic coating dries, so I hooked it back up to a battery tender for a charge and when I go back and connect the battery I bet it will still be dead. and really at 263 miles babied, damn ford!!!

There are usually some precursor indicators that there is low charge.
1) the passenger side intelligent access stops working. stick your hand in the handle and no response.
2) you press start and there is a hollow, tinny do-do-do from the center speaker

Those tell you right away if there’s a charging- or rather a discharging issue.

Do you have any aftermarket equipment on the car that might be drawing power unexpectedly?

-my personal fav.: 2018 or 2019 Raptor with mysterious parasitic draw. no aftermarket stuff, battery would just be dead in a few days. Spent some time at the dealer who did some pinpoint testing, talked to Eng. They hung a camera in the cabin and found that after the truck was shutdown and all the convenience stuff shut off, a few moments later the sync screen would power on and stay on for some period of time. That was sync, your gauge cluster is going out, so something hardware is likely at fault.

Whats it like to drive without the left screen ? Was it possible to drive ?

Some batteries @60% are considered dead and electronics won't like it one bit. At that level its the amps that come into play. Use the correct charger for AGM. My car can sit for 2 weeks with a fully topped off battery without any problems. The car will go into battery saver mode as when approaching the welcome feature is off.

I’d have the battery load tested and a Battery Management system (BMS) reset done. That’s oddball behavior.

The battery, not you.

Possible to drive but definitely a safety issue and may not be legal since you technically can't see your speed. I was more missing the gas gauge and TPMS, but eventually mine self-resolved after I let it sit all day. Hopefully a one-time glitch that will get patched in a future software update.
