Not talking about countries that use the metric system and I'm trying to avoid the 'complex geopolitical' implications here. This was already being worked on before Iran
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/mar...l-transport-after-emergency-order/ar-AA1YJEl5

but now it's going active.
Hopefully more gets done. It should have gotten done much sooner and the administration is not completely responsible for the US price increases seen since Iran- though they got that ball rolling.
Well considering only the US, Liberia and Myanmar don't use the metric system that means all of the world.

What should have been done sooner because I'm not sure what is being done? The US administration seem confused themselves on what they are trying to achieve (although Israel isn't) Unfortunately I don't know how this ends now, sure the US can stop bombing but then what? Iran (whatever that actually is) will not forget this and a mad wild collection of different religions and ethnic groups have shown before that logic doesn't feature highly in their decision making. They may start fighting each other but they may not and they do seem to like fighting somebody.

This absolutely fits in the category of 'should never have been started'. The genie is out of the bottle on this one now.

If you referring to the uranium enrichment program that was "completely and totally obliterated" 8 months ago, I would ask how many lies does it take invalidate the rhetoric?

Gas prices buddy. Stay on topic.
This is actually ultimately what is driving the uncertainty and oil price rises.

If there had been a clearly defined end point / target with UN backing there would have been a much better chance of achieving something that didn't destroy confidence. We will do 'x' and when 'x' is completed we will do 'y'. Now there is also a saying 'no plan ever survives combat' but at least have a plan B and C and D to deal with that.

I fear the ONLY reason this happened was Israel had intel on the collection of a large number of senior Iranians in one place and Israel decided to kill them in one strike.

Meanwhile more B1's have just flown over my head leaving the UK and some others came back an hour or two ago.

I am going to try and stay on the good side of the Moderators, and if I accidentally cross the line, I hope you are kind and just remove the offending portion.

Gas prices are a bit high. I've seen higher in relationship to the economy, but they are still higher than I would want. Currently, I am replacing one diesel with another, but the difference is this one has a 48 gallon tank vs a 29 or so gallon tank. I plan on using it the same, so fillups should be a bit more spaced out, but yes, I am not looking forward to multiple hundred dollar fillups. I also have a boat and honestly, I will use it less, possibly half or lower than the amount I would normally take it out.

Overall though, what I worry about most is that the "fuel surcharges" that came in the last time...and never really left because it made the line go up will come back a again because shareholders demand ever increasing profits...rather than using the fuel surcharge that never really left the the price equation.

So our media have gone batshit crazy, as usual.
People are selling ICE cars and buying EV's. They're bring back carless days. The cheaper gas stations are selling out. (This one is true)
You'd have to have an insufficiency of brain cells to sell your ICE car, buy an overpriced EV, install a $5000 home charger to save .70c per litre for what? 2 months?

The Balfour Declaration would do.
Don’t really need to go back that far, even sept 15, 2020 may suffice.

If you ignore history, you are doomed to repeat it.
You either become an example for history or history makes you an example.

If you look into the abyss, the abyss looks into you.
OK, I'm getting silly now.

No bombers left yesterday afternoon, overnight or this morning from Fairford....

The problem now is how you stop this war. There has to be a reason to stop, victory was declared multiple times last week but still the bombers kept going. There has to be something credible to equate to victory in order to stop but what is that?

Hormuz is open for Iranian tankers and now Indian tankers via negotiation with Iran. China in talks with Iran. This is how Hormuz gets back to normal.

I would be very concerned in the US about terrorism this summer, revenge is a dish best served cold as the saying goes.
