From what I know, its not getting them here that is the problem, clearing quarantine is.

It could be another reason. A car carrier had an EV catch fire and caused a large amount of damage. Maybe they will put the EVs on the upper deck so they can push them overboard should they light up.
Yeah, the "Dutch Oven" (LOL) as John Cadogan calls it.

and so on.

My feelings for EVs are exactly the same.
We're not quite ready for mass adoption.
And Lithium Ion batteries?
They're just bad news, and shipping these potential uncontrollable infernos is just the tip of the iceberg.

Both are related.
If the quarantined vehicles cannot be offloaded, RORO vessels are delayed which has snowballing affects with their schedules.
Earlier this year there was a major backlog because of suspected stinkbug contamination.

Once leaving Baltimore, it's Auckland then Brisbane is normally the first AU port of call, but the ships got diverted to Melbourne. Mustangs (amongst other vehicles) were delayed for many many weeks. Just ask the guys on 6G.

This was so much of a disruption that Wallenius Wilhelmsen announced changes to their schedules.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen on 20 March 2023 said:
The congestion in Australian ports remains at a critical level as large proportions of imported cars continue to fail quarantine inspections after discharge. Consequently, terminal congestion and vessel delays persist which has resulted in all RORO carriers reducing services to Australia, and Melbourne in particular. Terminal operators in other Australian ports are also capping transshipment volumes to avoid further congestion by cargo that is being diverted from Melbourne.

If I were a shipping company CEO, I'd be avoiding Australia too!

Ford AU were obviously concerned enough, that they wanted direct control of delivering their bread and butter income earners.

What I find absurd is

Australian terminals are not purpose-built to facilitate high volumes of contaminated cargo requiring biosecurity decontamination.
We have strict biosecurity regulations, but lack the ability to deal with issues when/if they arise?

FFS

I wasnt joking

Push the E.V’s overboard

it’s like B!ll G@t3s fake meat that they put in the cold meat section

Be a shame if everyone took a box and scattered them around the Supermarket. Up behind slow moving th8ngs on the bottom shelf.

it’s fun. And might save someone eating all those chemicals.

gimme:
real beef
real V8’s
real women. No plastic or cumbrellas.

Synchronicity - On that very subject - Just got this two hours ago in an email....................with the link (This Gates / Woke Authoritarian madness has to stop!)

"Italy did something brilliant last week – it rejected the scourge of synthetic lab-grown meat by passing a bill through the Italian Senate to ban the sale of this fake meat and fake feed. It comes in response to Bill Gates’ push – via a multitude of investment companies – to make fake meat the future of food. While poor countries will be allowed to keep their animals, Gates would prefer if rich countries – that’s you and I – switch to 100 per cent Petri dish flesh. No surprise that our government and food authorities are keen. Italy is lucky."

Or just push the EV’s overboard before thay catch fire
LOL

How about this?
Round up all the Greenies and loony left, and turn Tasmania into a "Green Utopia Colony" for them.
Let's call the state Hypocrite Isle.

Put Dan the Man and Adam Bandt in charge to run the joint, and Tassie can be clean and green as much they like. All their EV charging stations can be hydro powered...

Oh wait...

That would require more dams, and we know how Greenies feel about dams in Tassie.
The Greenies would be in real f'ing conundrum!!!

Great Idea - but rather than ruin Tasmania with their presence, I would rather just ship the lot of the Control-Freak, Sanctimonious Virtue Signalling Looney Left Imbeciles off to their true Utopian "Progressive" Paradise - China - with a one way ticket!
