I love my manual for a daily driver but was curious if the one day track event would be a more fun experience choosing an automatic? I am not a track guy at all, never been except as a spectator. I do know how to drive my manual with 30 years experience. Hoping this does not digress into another passionate about a trans type thread, but for a one day track event what do you honestly think would be more fun?

I went to the Track Attack back in October '24. I have plenty of experience with the manual, but I opted for the auto on the track. I was amazed at how well the auto ran on the road course & the track. I feel that it was more enjoyable not needing to manually shift.. the auto is a beast IMO (Track Mode)

Your going to enjoy this experience 100% ✌

Looks like the guys who like to play with their little shifters lose yet again. The automatic beats them on the track too. Maybe because all the power is on the Top-end? The little stick just doesn't get you to the top fast enough. Hah! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😀😁 . Yes, I used to love the stick shift. But the shit talkers here changed that for me. Just like I was a Dummykrat years ago. And after six years of their 💩 I'll never go back.

No, it’s not that. Even with launch control, you need a bunch of practice to land a launch that will bring you close to the A10.

Track Attack has you manually shifting the Auto, so you do have to mind your shifts, it’s just easier to do.

I would STRONGLY encourage you to run the 2 day. It’s pricey but it is FUN and you will learn tons.
Really.

My takeaways were:
- wow, lots of available traction in the rain.
- slippery mode is pretty freakin’ awesome
- the car is very communicative, you get feedback front and back and the tires let you know when you’re pushing.
- the drift brake is fun, but kind of a gimmick.

I would lean towards selecting the car like you have, so if you have a M6, I’d lean that direction so you can apply what you learn to your car. I have an A10 MDH, so I got the A10 track attack car and am glad I did.

As smurfslayer said, I would go with the same as the car that I own, so I gain the experience in using what I've got, and how it reacts under those conditions. I just think it would connect me more to my own car.

I don't understand what you mean - because I used the type of transmission I'm most familiar with, and learn better how to use it on a track, I'm more likely to crash or something?

Oh, I just saw your previous post - never mind, I don't really care what you meant.

Just dropping in to echo this sentiment from smurfslayer. While I don't own a DH, I'll be out at the Mustang Unleashed Experience later this month and I selected the transmission option that matches the Mustang in my garage (A10). I feel like you'll get the most value out of either experience by taking this route. All of that being said, I'm sure it will be an absolute blast either way.

Couldn't even make it three posts into a discussion about transmission selection for the Dark Horse Track Attack event without sprinkling in some entirely unnecessary political commentary.

Please find a new hobby. Don't you have a new Cadillac to go drive around or something?

Yep. True. The A10s will blast the poor guy off the track. Stick shift types seem to have a strange sense of what's fun. They think losing is fun. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. 🙈🙉🙊

I was at the Track Attack back in February. First it's a great freaking time. The point of getting the same transmission is so you can see how to get the most out of your particular vehicle. If you don't care about that then go for it. None the less have a fantastic time it's a lot of fun
