Dark Horse poorly received??

I’m not sure if “poorly received” is the best way to describe it… it just seems like people expect something more. Hard to argue that it’s not basically the same as the Mach 1’s performance-wise. The styling has gotten mixed reactions too. Couple that with the price and those are two hurdles that probably eliminate some potential buyers.

I went to test drive one and was told only if we go over the numbers and you’re ready to buy so I said ok. They wanted my car with 5,500 miles and $1,000/mo. I’m paying $553/mo now so I told them it wasn’t worth double the payment for the same car.

I’m not saying it’s a bad car, in fact I think performance wise it’s a great car. Just saying IMO appearance and price may be why more people aren’t buying.

As I said before, the DH should have been the GT. It’s simply not at the level of “special” we expect a higher trim mustang to be at this stage.

I certainly don’t want to pay that kind of money just for essentially a performance pack gt with an uglier fascia and a sticker package.

When it comes to whether or not a vehicle or trim is poorly received is really hard because it can totally be a by area issue meaning. Out in California it could be selling like crazy and sit around in a dealer in Indiana for two years. Having said that the dark horse seems to be selling around the same as the mach 1 the people that want one are getting them. But let’s cut the crap here it’s no GT500 or GT350 replacement and it’s also a good 5-10k over priced IMO. I think it’s a kick ass car but it’s a model to definitely wait around for because you can definitely get one for a good deal in the upcoming season. It kinda reminds me of the C7 grand sports which really sold poorly because the z06 was so close in price.

To be blunt for the money they’re charging it should have been on the level of the boss 302 “effort wise” aka push the motor more or drop weight with special materials. I mean focking something like i said In my comment above the previous mach 1 suffered this same issue but it sold based on its name, boomers and it looked rad. But the dark horse is a new name plate i love it but man its a hard sell if you wanted an out of body experience like a z06

Agreed but he’s also not entirely wrong my buddy got a dark horse and has been disappointed in its performance per say. Honestly i think the pricing is the major issues 55-60k would be a great msrp for it but nah man lets price them up too 85k

I didn't pay $85K. I paid $68K. No need for incorrect rhetoric.

68k is reasonable but some of these dealers are stone cold stupid. Yeah let’s order a maxed out build then ask over list lmfao yeah okay. Nah he traded his GT350 and regrets it

Premium GT PP1 are coming in at 55-60k. Mustangs generally speaking are no longer a performance bargain. Ford priced these cars too close to competition they can't compete with. DH especially is in the ballpark of Corvette and M3/M4.

If you absolutely HAVE to get a V8 with a manual then Mustang is the only one left. And I understand wanting that. I'll miss all my manual cars. But I am not paying 70k+ for a Mustang that doesn't even wear a Shelby badge. Especially for a car that doesn't significantly outperform the S550 model and is the same price as a new S550 GT 500 msrp was.

Which makes me wonder how much a Shelby will be.

As someone who actually is involved with ford at a corporate level. We are going to see a mid 00s ford unfortunately they’re going to milk this poor car in all the wrong ways. And they know it, and you can still get a GT for a good price but the Dark horse plus whatever else is down the pipe line is going to be outrageously priced

I think most people will choose between 4 basic versions: Base/Premium and HP/Non HP. I dont think very many people are going to spend 9k on carbon wheels. And I would not option that factory wrap personally.

if I get a Dark Horse I’ll most likely splurge for the carbon fiber wheels… at first I didnt like them but they are growing on me….

not that I need them but I seem to have a thing for cars that are overkill for the road lol

I still need to drive a Dark Horse…
