Took my Dark Horse to the third event this season and got a transmission oil warning light plus the car briefly went into limp mode around lap 8 of the first session. Has anyone else had this happen with a 2024? Very surprised as the air temp was around 57F and I thought the Dark Horse was meant to have trans cooling...

Manual or 10 speed? Honestly kind of disappointed by the cooling on the 24s. I had a 19 GT non PP and took it to the drag strip ran back to back to back no issues but 1 hit on my 2024 non PP also on the highway and my oil temp is at 240 real quick I heard around 260 it starts to cut rpms. Not sure how much the extra cooling helps with the performance packs. Yes the DH is supposed to be a track weapon

It's a 10-speed because the intent was to have it as a dedicated track car. Regretting not getting the manual now. The shifts also start to thud as it gets hot.

I previously had a 2015 GT non-performance pack (also an auto) that had some aftermarket mods for the track (trans cooler, bigger performance radiator etc.) and I never had it go into limp mode on the same track in hotter air temps.

It has a trans cooler. Nobody ever bothers to ask if it's any good.

I think the same happened to C&D on their Lightning Lap that the A10 overheated and shifted slow while it was still in normal heat parameters...Same with S550 GT when german sport auto mag managed half a lap on the Nuerburgring before the GT went limp but the Mach 1 with Tremec managed to do a lap without overheating...

Thanks for the info! Might be looking at a cooler upgrade in the future then!

Hi,

I thought I'd share my story here rather than start a new thread. I have now taken my 2024 Dark Horse 10 speed Auto to 3 open track sessions, and yesterday to a competitive timed track event. At first, I was blown away with the performance of the DH on the track. In my first track session the car performed with no problems. However, on the second track event I started to experience lag between gear shifts. With the car almost going into limp mode. In my third track event, the problem was very apparent, and the car wouldn't shift at some points. Do not even get me started on the paddle shifting because that was just awful on the track. I have the incident on video through a go pro I had on my racing helmet. After this track event I took my car into the local dealer, and I showed them the video of what happened. They did a full checkup, and they came back to me saying there wasn't anything showing up on their end (no error messages, no knocks while test driving the car, which is obviously the case because this happened on the track and not on the road). So, they gave me back the car after doing a oil and filter change. So, after I got the green light from the dealer, I participated in a three-day timed track event done locally here. On the first day I got about 7 or 8 laps in with no problems. On the second day is where the car was noticeably worse than the previous time with the car going into limp mode, and wasn't able to shift at high speeds. I got an error message this time that said "Powertrain System Fault” on Ford Pass I got the following message "Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault". This is where I bowed out of the event with the car being sent to the dealer on a tow truck. I feel absolutely gutted as I was really looking forward to showcasing the Dark Horse's abilities (only Dark Horse and only Mustang in the event). I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me, but I am looking for advice from anyone that has had a similar experience, and if they have found solutions to enjoy this beast on the track.

The car is fully stock, with the only changes being that I swapped out the tires, and wheels to the handling package tires and wheels with the front lip, and rear spoiler.
