Well I have been waiting for a nice spoiler to be released for the S650 convertible and I kept seeing those PP spoilers on EBay that were takeoffs and included the spoiler module. One finally came up for sale in Vapor Blue last week and I bought it. I removed my factory module with the lip spoiler and removed all the leftover adhesive. Once I had the surface clean and prepped with new double sided tape, I started to fit the EBay spoiler. I struggled with alignment issues with the bolt holes and discovered there is a slight difference in geometry between the coupe and convertibles trunk lids. I could only get some of the bolts to line up and others were off by 3/8ā€. It was disappointing but I will just have to wait for a spoiler that is made specifically to fit the convertibles. So if any of you were wondering if one of those EBay takeoff spoilers will fit your vert, unfortunately it’s a no go.

You tried swapping the entire deck lid with the spoiler already attached?

I wonder if you simply removed and swapped the blade spoiler with the new if it would line up.

Mine is is not a vert though I bought an OEM off eBay, removed the 2- 10mm bolts for blade, and the new spoiler fit perfect. There are only 2 bolts, one on each end and the center is just alignment pins.

Only mention this because I had seen so many people removing the entire trunk lid to remove the blade, it is not necessary.

Yeah I removed my blade spoiler with the spoiler module and tried mounting the PP spoiler with the module it’s mounted to and the bolts wouldn’t line up properly to my trunk lid. Seems the only way to work around this is to find a spoiler delete module for a vert and remove the PP spoiler I have and mount it to the spoiler delete module. I believe if I remove my blade spoiler, the holes will not line up to the PP spoiler.

@UAS Guy ...... the Mustang Gods may have been smiling on you. I posted on another thread that I listened to a conversation between two Mustang owners at a coffee and cars night a while back. The owner of a GT (I think it was a 2024) installed a wing like yours and it created (his words) a backdraft that sucked all kinds of dirt into his vert. BTW.... I build work benches like you (to the amusement of my buddies) using 2X6s and GIS 3/4 ply. Nothing moves it. Back to the topic - I think @JAM486HP has a solid suggestion, separate the wing from the trunk deck part and try that. It might be more flexible that way if you have to re-drill a couple of holes that would be ok as long as the wing covered the old ones just tape off an area 1/8" around both the unused and new holes and spray some Mar Pro Zinc Chromate on both sides of the hole (best primer IMO) then finish with your vapor blue. I have a 2024 GT vapor blue and a local parts shop said they could order me a color matched spray can if I wanted one and many parts shops and some body shops will sell clear coat spray. I once bought clear coat on Amazon for my 2014 vert's rocker panels after I sanded, primed and painted them Oxford White. It worked great. Another option might be a plastic plate(s) to bridge where the holes are or even aluminum plates if the old holes sit outside the bases of the new wing - either of which could be sprayed or in the case of the aluminum powder coated. You could make it look OEM and you don't seem to me like a guy who quits once he has a mission.

My thought was the bolt pattern for the "spoiler only" might fit your original module since all OEM spoilers (blade and raised) have identical bolt/pin pattern.

Wow that’s interesting. Never thought about something like that happening. Thanks for that info. I may have to reconsider this idea.

Ah yes I see what you’re saying. I’ll need to research that and see if it’s a possibility. After what Mat1955 posted above about a backdraft effect coming off the spoiler sending dirt in to the interior will be an issue. I’m gonna do some more research before I throw in the towel on this idea. I appreciate everyone’s comments on this šŸ˜Ž.

@UAS Guy I replied in a post above. I like @JAM486HP 's suggestion. I added a few. You may well be able to fit that wing onto your vert and still look oem. I'd have one more look at it, possibly after separating the two parts and fitting the wing itself to the oem trunk deck piece that came with your car. Read the post above from @JAM486HP amd me @MAT1955 ....cheers.

Backdraft would not know, just for reference here are the schematics from Ford on all 3 spoiler types, Vert Lip, Blade and Raised. Note Bolt patterns on lid plate are identical (blue)

Thanks for the great info there Mat1955 and Jam486HPšŸ‘. You’re right about not quitting on this idea Jam, I’m gonna get busy researching this a bit more and take some measurements. If I pull this off, I’ll be sure to take lots of photos and explain what I did to help anyone considering going this route šŸ˜‰.
