So about a month ago my CarPlay lost functionality. It no longer connects and says "Cannot connect to carplay, please plug in or blah blah".
Now when my phone tries connecting, it will start playing bluetooth then disconnect for about 5 seconds, then re-connect.

Basically it's just being a PIA. I've tried reconnecting and deleting phone, and doing a restart via the right arrow+volume down buttons to no avail. I have a service appointment at 8AM tomorrow but would love to solve this myself. Any suggestions to do a hard restart on the infotainment or get CarPlay sorted?

Hi there! I can look into your Mustang's CarPlay concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mustang's VIN?

Will do!

If anyone else knows how to do a reset of the infotainment please let me know!

You didn’t mention anything about having Wi-Fi on or going into the settings and turning CarPlay off and back on in the phone.

Turn Bluetooth and wireless off on phone. Start your car - remove the phone from the memory, re-enable Bluetooth and wireless and pair the phone up.

Oooooo weeee this one is a doozy. There’s gonna be soooo many people that have this issue and never know how to fix it.

So first off, thanks for the replies, none of them worked. im going to do a write up since this is definitely going to get asked a bunch.

Basically under Settings -> connectivity, there’s “wireless app projection” which is essentially a WiFi signal for CarPlay/Android auto. Your phone automatically connects to this when CarPlay is set up (I’m assuming since I never touched this). Somehow this password was changed or reset or corrupted on my phone, and therefor would not connect to CarPlay any more.
I had to manually reset the password on the car then FORGET AND REMOVE the WiFi from my phone. I was then able to follow normal pairing instructions on my phone and boom we are all back to normal (I hope)

Looking forward to a software update.
