It's basically perfect in my Honda CR-V.

I *still* experience the same issues as OP. My quick fix is to do this on the car: I think its in settings, then phone or connection list, tap the carplay icon to disconnect my phone, then tap it again to reconnect it.

Streaming audio via carplay from a phone to a car isn't rocket science. There's no reason for bugs like this to continue to exist, especially with "premium" products like an iphone and with what ford charges for their cars now.
agree and I’m sure the dealer will only say it’s an Apple issue… and the other issue I have won’t even be considered since the gauge was added via forscan. I have just learned to deal with it and go through whatever I need to do so the phone would work.. had similar issues in my 19

My 2024 has issues connecting to CarPlay. It works most of the time but about 10-15% of the time when I start my car it either does not connect or connects but no sound. The only way to fix it is to completely shut off the car, and restart it. This has been an issue since I bought the car new.

Curious if anyone else has had the issue. If it’s a known issue or something I just need to ask the dealer about. The only reason I haven’t taken it to the dealer yet is there is no way to reproduce it, it just happens randomly.
I have had the same problem numerous times. What I find helps is to plug the phone in before I start the car, or sync the phone again after it starts. I'm old, so I don't always remember to plug the phone in first. And I expect that issue will not improve! Glenn
