Car shows are more trouble than enjoyment?

I've been attending car shows as a spectator for years and we have plenty to choose from in my neck of the woods.

The grass field reminded me of one show that I will never go to again.
It was in a field which was a part of a violet farm, but no violets in this field.
The grass was overgrown, and the place was teeming with ticks which are known to carry Lyme Disease, which is also prevalent where I live.

Never again!

I did hear that the show was much better this year, but I don't like bugs so I skipped it !

Sitting among bugs all day would annoy the heck out of me. A few weeks ago, I attended the Snakes on the Mountain show in Bethlehem, PA. Most of the cars were parked on grass, except for some super expensive exotics. The difference was that there were no bugs, and the grassy areas were like the fairways on a golf course. Glenn

I truly believe that car shows are like a Clint Eastwood movie..."The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." My 2025 GT is not worthy of showing, not yet, so I attend some shows in my area. I am super careful to not touch anything; though, if the owner is in a talking mood, I'll chat. I've had more good experiences than bad. Though, I refer everyone back to the movie title.

Here in FL car shows are a business. Yes they raise money for good cause (raffles), but basically 80% of the entrants get a trophy of some some sort. Pay ur 35.00 registration fee, get a $10 trophy. Plus you see the same cars and same people at many shows. It gets boring, frankly

I don't necessarily go to show my car, especially to be judged. Often times it is just the club members lining up their cars and popping the hood, so others can see what the engine compartment looks like! Crowded! Glenn

Yep ... if kids show an interest in my car ...taking pictures I always ask if they want to sit in it/ get a picture of them sitting in it....we own Mustangs not Paganis - even my friends with mid tier exotics.... think Huracans...... let kids sit in their cars all the time.......

People often complain kids are not into cars anymore- I think its our duty to inspire the next generation and not scare them off .....

I think he was just having a soapbox moment....No questions per say, just telling the experience he had.

O-P ----- You should get on Facebook and search car shows in your area. This will give you a better idea what you are getting yourself into. Shows that are in parks, are usually going to be on a grass lot. A Cars and Coffee meet is always in a businesses parking lot or some big paved lot. Making coming and leaving easy........

I have come to enjoy car shows for classics / old school muscle cars. Many times, there will also be a few exotics and higher end sports cars like Lotus or Corvettes.

Not once has anyone been upset that I brought a modern car.

The classics shows tend to be hosted by and geared towards older folks who have respect and usually have some very cool cars.

Earlier the better to avoid riff raff teenagers who do burnouts and speed in the parking lots. (they are probably still asleep at 9am)

If anyone is in central TX, the monthly cars and coffee in Dripping Springs is very fun!
