Yet these kids will spend thousands and thousands of $$ "modding" their corollas/hyundais etc.?

I don't know about everyone else, but the sound they make irritates my ears. Glenn

The internet is their “freedom”. Play games against someone other side of world/other side of street - from the bedroom

👍 They are just a bit too small for me...
My buddy had a TR7 back around 1977. He loved that car, white, removeable "targa" top, he put in a custom stereo cassette deck/speakers. It was a nice car, we drove around a lot in it, but that too was a bit to small for my tastes. I just feel very "confined" in a smaller 2 seater.

A Corolla is cheap. I took the most expensive Corolla (not the GR) and I threw EVERYTHING I could at it, including the 900 dollar cooler. Every option, pet, storage, body cladding, etc. and it's still under 40k.

Most kids are not buying new Corollas to mod, or if they do, they are buying cheaper than the 27k high end model. Most likely they are starting with the 22k version, or a used one. The mustang starts at 32k, roughly $5,000 more than the high end Corolla and 10k more (or 50 percent increase) over the base Corolla.

To these kids, they can put on a lot of mods for 10k and get a customized car, or they can buy a base Mustang....

I remember right after I bought my 550i. It ran about 75k all told. A lifted and blinged out 3500 truck pulled up next to me and yelled about how much my car cost, but I figure that with it being a nearly new diesel and extensive aftermarket add-ons, it probably cost almost exactly the same.

It's about perception. To them it was a beautiful 60k truck and they added 15k of mods to make it moreso. To me, it was an ugly 75k truck and their mods made it even uglier (it wasn't a Super Duty).

Don't forget the Soy Latte Double Espresso Grande's once or twice a day along with their Uber to and from work.
