Car ppl: what the hell's wrong with us?

Maybe my dissenters are right. Ppl ask me what the point is of obsessing over something that just takes you places.

As Super Nintendo Chalmers once said "a car is just something that takes you from point A to point B and on weekends point C"

My father, who has been a professional mechanic with his own shop for over 50 years, despises every minute of it and never drives for pleasure. If he wants a joyride he gets on a motorcycle. His favorite kind of vehicle is the one that doesn't break down on the way to driving someplace to have fun and what's capable of hauling his fun vehicles (snowmobiles etc).

Regarding the old VW Trends magazine, someone once quipped that every day millions of ppl use the toilet and nobody publishes a magazine called "dump."

Might as well go on the forum about your favorite type of underwear or shampoo. Just items that serve a purpose.

I mean I don't believe any of this but that's how non-car ppl feel.

most never reveal how amazed they are for fear of embarrassment so easier to ride the bandwagon and point out topics of dissension as a means to claim the common ground of group acceptance. Or were you hinting at something else

my dads the same way. he was a car guy when he was younger and owned a beautiful gen 3 camaro, but he's given up on that and everytime someone asks him about his favorite car his only response is "my favorite car is the car that goes from point a to point b", but i know what he truly means when he says that! people who say those things are just ignorant about cars, in the same way that people say the same about video games or makeup or something.

who cares how non car people feel? You either love cars and driving (fast) or you don't. They don't know what they are missing. I would spend every last cent to maximize the experience.​

Yes cars are just a tool to alot if not most people. But driving and cruising is an American pastime and it's baked into our culture. Nothing wrong with that i dont think. We spend thousands and thousands upgrading and making them look different better you name it. How about sound competitions and other things like that. And some people just drive to work ect and use it just to get where they're going but I bet those people appreciate seeing some nice customized vehicles when they see them. Its all good is what I think.
