Now, I'm coming back to Ford after a Cadillac and many BMWs. The Caddy was bad about forgetting personalized settings and some of the BMWs would occasionally do things like forget my phone (I'd have to set up the bluetooth again).

Now I'm running up on this in the Mustang. I hopped in the car yesterday and all of my color settings had changed, as did my exhaust setting. From a blue theme to a brown theme. Now, I actually kind of prefer this scheme, so I tweaked it a bit and I'm leaving it there, but it got me thinking, can no one manufacture a car that doesn't do this????

Fortunately my radio presets were still there! Last week I turned off the OTA updates, as they often cause more problems than they solve, so that wasn't the cause. Probably. :sunglasses:

Let me know if you figure it out. This morning my cluster layout was changed. Yesterday it was not. It's so exciting waiting to see once you start it what cluster I will have

Almost certainly an OTA update which resets the colour scheme amongst a few other things depending on which module was updated.

I think that's where a lot of us first noticed it, but IIUC, Sync announces updates on the screen and you can check the update history. I've had half a dozen resets since August, and it's random. I start up from cold after a several day downtime, everything is fine. I start up from getting the groceries and boom; module has reset my settings. No update.

My thinking is FORSCAN to change some defaults.

I had a similar problem with the colors and gauge settings on my 24 GT. I finally figured out that I had to press and hold the memory seat #1 button for it to maintain my preferences. Have you tried that?

It's interesting that this is happening to everyone all at once. I hopped in mine after a gym session this morning and my colors had reset along with the shift lights being disabled.

I had no notice of a software update, so if that's what did it then it makes sense. But why would the update erase settings?

If he has Recaros, there's not going to be a memory button to save or reselect a profile...

I've had to disconnect battery several times to work on car - every time I reconnect battery my dash color settings reset to brown/orange and I also lose shift lights & ambient lights settings. Other than that though I don't notice any other settings changed. minor inconvenience for me

No, I haven't. Can't find the button. Oh wait, I don't have memory seats!

I didn't realize that this was happening to other folks as well. I guess that's a little consolation... However, this also happened to me during a gym trip, perhaps that's the issue? We're too fit?

I was reading an article last week about how a Sirius OTA update bricked the infotainment systems on some Audis, so it kind of got me paranoid...

This is why cars still need tape decks. That way, you could take a magnetic backup of the settings each night as part of a scheduled DR procedure 😉

Mine has been doing this too, maybe once a month or every other month. Dash colors reset and it also loses my preference to deactivate the motions and not ask at key-off. Drives me absolutely insane. I don't believe the car has received any updates yet and I've also deactivated automatic updates entirely.
