Brakes Ice Mode

So what your referring to was happening in a 2013z,s or earlier? If so maybe they tuned out issues in later models? But yes in the video it looked like it just locked and slide into the gaurd rail.

I am unable to answer that, my friend's 370Z was indeed earlier than 2013. Nissan never acknowledged the issue so not sure whether it was fixed. Amuse Japan dropped the car altogether after the crash and did not compete further with the Z in the touge run.

So I watched the video, and that is not Ice Mode.

His brakes locked up. That is the opposite of Ice Mode.

In Ice Mode, the car thinks it is on ice. The brakes do not lock up. The computer overrides the pedal pressure and keeps the tires turning as if you are braking hard on very slippery ice. This is in spite of the fact that you are on dry asphalt in good condition with racing tires or track tires that are hot and sticky.

Basically, you push hard on the brakes, but you get almost no braking force to the tires.

It has to do with the rear brakes. Many of the S550 drivers find that they can control it using very aggressive racing brake pads up front and far less aggressive or even OEM brake pads in the rear.

The engineer explanation at the end of the video makes no sense whatsoever and seems to contradict what I see on the video.

Basically the engineer from Amuse acknowledge there is an existing issues with the ABS in the 370Z. Before Orido crashed the car, the engineer himself has experienced the issues as well (don't know whether on a proper track or a mountain pass). He mentioned there are ways to avoid the issue from coming up, it happens after the car reached certain speed and a specified set of conditions for it to happen. That's what i got from the captions so i could have implied it wrongly but i think that's what they meant. I will link the video here.

I think Car&Driver had an issue with a 350/370Z during Lightning Lap where the brakes gave out. It might have been another magazine or track, as it's been several years or so. Nissan recognized that there was an issue with their brakes on the track, but I don't remember their solution.

so, mine was a 2016 370z base model. the brakes were complete garbage, I had the discs replace twice in under 15k miles. they just kept warping. drove me nuts. the car was fast and fun, but brakes were a constant pain in the ass.
