I just learned about the battery monitoring system. Are you kidding me? What ever happened to negative cable off first and on last and that's it?

And I thought the Keep Alive Module or "KAM" on my s197 was excessive

Between that

and the car not recognizing an oil cooler on a non-PP car

and the exhaust not sounding right cuz firing order changed

and the cats not being on an easily swappable midpipe

I know they tore down BMW M3's when they designed the Coyote but they didn't have to carry over all of the company's quirkiness and expense.

Probably not getting one of those under $25k these days unless it's ready for the scrap heap

I do miss the simplicity of my old '90

A Termi would be nice and those are getting bought up quick lemmie tell ya

Probably just recondition my 07 and call it a day; we'll see how work goes

There's a 70 Mustang 428SCJ on the classics site that might even fire up once in a while

The battery monitoring is nothing new in Fords, which is why none of the aftermarket or remanufactured alternators have worked in a ford in over 20 years.

The BMS among other things removes the parasitic draw of the alternator when there is no demand for power, if the battery is at a certain state, there is no need to feed it juice.

Asking the alternator to provide electricity requires HP and if it is producing it all the time when not needed it is taking oooomph from the rear wheels.

So it gives you an extra couple of HP when not commanding the alternator to produce power and that also equals MPG over the long run

Well I know my Autozone alternator on my 07 works fine; yep 2011 is the first model year for BMS across Ford and Lincoln.

we’re a few generations from not having a steering wheel. Well maybe the halo cars will at exotic prices. For off-road use only.

you’re really not gonna like the next 20 years if you’re just now catching up to the last 20.

Lol. Ford's had a BMS for like 15 years. Sell your car and go buy a fox body. You'll be happier.

I just realized you dont even own a S650. But you've started multiple threads bitching about them. If you aren't a troll and are serious about buying...don't. Its not the car for you sir.

Does it disconnect the belt, in the same manner the ac compressor disengages, or does it still spin the alternator but the charge is ‘unplugged’ ?

edit: before we get too twisted around the sprocket. Are we saying the faster the wind blows the more difficult it is to spin the wind turbine?

The over-complication of the new cars would definitely curb the mods I had planned in interest of keeping it under warranty and then purchasing an ESPP. Cat delete is off the table which is fine since the exhaust sounds odd in the first place, but the killer would be canceling the 4.09's in case a dealer really wants to be a stickler. Even PP 3.73's are probably too tall considering the gearing of the MT-82 esp coming off the 4.10's I'm running now, and my original plan was an optionless and hand-picking my mods anyway.

Lol I use that one a lot. At least 50% of my day is allotted to complaining about the lack of manual transmission options for "performance" vehicles in '26.

You could do a crate but then by that time the bare bones car costs twice as much
