Best Radar/Laser Detector?

With the new beasts coming out, what is the best radar/laser detector for our new stangs? I’m looking at the following for prioritization: #1 Function/Reliability, #2 Installation, #3 Price. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Valentine 1 for me.

I've got a Valentine V1 Gen1 and Gen 2. Both work better than anything I have ever seen. Also customer service is old school and top notch.

OG Valentine 1. Has enough range where you’re always safe from radar, but not so sensitive that you’re always getting alerts.

i've heard good things about the Uniden's new-ish R4 and R8. it's worth noting that by the time your radar detector picks up LiDAR, it's already too late, and to effectively detect and combat it (because unlike radar, it's not a federal crime to jam LiDAR) you need a dedicated system and they are not cheap

I've been using a Passport Escort (I forget which model) for well over a decade. One of the best purchases that I have made regarding vehicles.

If I were to ever switch brands or purchase another detector... it would be some model made by Passport or a V1 (Valentine One), period. Some may seem a bit pricey but they pay for themselves x1000.

Things that I heavily recommend:

1. Purchase a separate mirror mount
   1. most come with suction cups and they often work well for awhile, but the mirror mount is much more permanent
2. Purchase a wiretap that allows you to hardwire the detector in
   1. no more dangling cords
   2. frees up the auxiliary power outlet (which in some vehicles this also does not power on/off with the ignition.. so you have to plug/unplug the cord each time)
   3. You can usually tap into the rearview mirror, homelink, or map light (again depending on the vehicle)

I’ve been running the 480i with a mirror mount and have the power tapped into the mirror. I’ve had it for a few years now and it has been great! It’s never failed me, it’s a little sensitive but after a while you learn it. Price point is very inexpensive.
