I was idly browsing the Ford Accessories online shop and came across a Ford Performance badge. https://www.ford.com/product/powered-by-ford-performance-badge-p2920349514. I suppose that if you have sprung for a special Ford tune (which, admittedly, I have now done) or have installed a Ford supercharger and want to proclaim that fact to the world, this badge is your rolling announcement. But how do you know the badge will work on your Mustang? Maybe, somehow, it won't "fit." Helpfully, Ford provides a "Fits These Vehicles" list that includes, "Ford Mustang 1963-2029."

The rule here seems to be, "Does your Mustang have a fender or a door? If so, relax -- the badge will fit." If you have a 1970 Boss, you can still use the Ford Performance badge! If you have a prototype or concept car that predates the 1964 Mustang launch, you'll be relieved to know that you are fine too. And even Mustangs yet to be built are OK, so you can buy a badge now and save it until your 2029 baby rolls off the line. But what happens afterward is anyone's guess. Will 2029 mark the end of the S650? Will future Ford switch to an extra-slippery paint, rendering badge adhesive ineffective? Owners of 2030s and up could be in for disappointment.

Or..... You debadge the car and go stealth! It seems to me, that performance cars already have too many clues giving them away. I've actually seen Ford RaptoRs which have been rebadged as F150s. Whomever those folks are, are sneaky little bastards and I love 'em!

There was a guy in FL that got screwed by his HOA because he had a F250 and the bylaws said no large trucks, so he rebadged it as a F150 , problem solved.

I'd take the badges off my fenders if it wasn't for the holes behind the badge

The 5.0 emblems on the Fox cars were adhesive only

When I inevitably get a GT, I plan to remove the trunk badge and replace with a running pony. Unfortunately, the 5.0 badge on the fender is physically connected and there will be a hole if you just remove it. Not sure it would be worth the effort or even possible to get EcoBoost fenders just to have a smooth badge-less fender on a GT.

You need a badge cover for the "5.0" that is painted to look like it is not a badge. Like the hidden bridge in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. :)

For model year 2022, Kia changed its company logo from the word "Kia" in an oval to a stylized word mark that is harder to recognize. Before that happened, some owners of Tellurides, Kia's most upscale vehicle, wanted to disguise the fact that their SUVs were made by Kia, which they worried had economy-car vibes. They placed a weird "Flying K" badge over the existing badge so no one could read the "Kia" anymore. So badge camouflaging is a real thing for some disgruntled owners.

Anyone have fond recollections of the very stylish windshield banner; announcing the brand/model of car the owner was driving to the world; because without it they wouldn't have the vaguest idea what kind of car the owner was driving?

Yea. Me either. 😆
