Published two months ago, but I've only just stumbled across this video from Waxit.

Coincidentally, I was procrastinating over their Enthusiasts Car Polishing Kit a few weeks ago when they were on special. This seems like a good entry level kit to go even further down the wabbit hole.

By the time I decided to pull the trigger and get one.... they had sold out.

Oh well.... Black Friday not that far away, and here's hoping there is more kits available by then. :fingerscrossed:

It's a great starting point as it sets you up with a pad and polish system to play and learn with. Once you know what you like, you can then order more of the pads and compounds.

Having a little play with the camera, lighting and backdrop to feature four of my favorite brushes.

From left to right -

Detail Factory Ultra Soft - I use this grey brush for wheel nuts and brake calipers.

Detail Factory Boar Hair - Used for general interior and exterior cleaning.

Detail Factory ProGrip Tyre Scrub Brush - Pretty self explanatory, I also have another one for cleaning rubber floor mats. Probably my favorite brush overall.

Maxshine Curved Grip XL Mixed Bristle - This one is used for dressing low profile tyres.

This is a great value handy little basic random orbital kit i got to supplement my full size rotary polisher , does the fiddly little jobs well and i also use it for the windscreens pre treatment . Comes with a few different pads in a couple sizes . might be of interest to you .

I'm getting a shopping list together to dip my toes into polishing, and going further down the wabbit hole.

Being more of a visual person, I prepared this for my own benefit, but if any other polishing-wannabe first-timer finds this useful, great!

Had to Photoshop together five different pages to remove the greyed-out effect on the coloured bars. :computerrage:

Back to the shopping....

Annoyingly, the Rupes Bigfoot Claw Pad Tool is currently out of stock at most of the usual car detailing suppliers, but I found it here.

https://www.jeffersonpaintsupplies.com.au/rupes-bigfoot-claw-pad-tool-cleaning-removing-tool

A small premium paid over elsewhere, but it does include postage.

It is definitely cheaper to purchase the Shine Mate Enthusiasts kit, as the machine and pads alone are more expensive to buy separately, even before adding the compounds.

I'll be adding the DFB recommended Carpro Reflect to the order.

Annoyingly, as is the way with this detailing caper, not everything is available from the one supplier.

And then you find out supplier #2 is out of stock of this, whilst supplier #3 doesn't have that. :curse:

Welcome to my world.

The kits are great because they take you a long way without getting you into trouble.

Another way compound to consider when approaching paint correction for the first time would be something like Carpro Essence, which is basically Reflect with a Si02 compound within it. The key here is it gets you into the groove of polishing, fills in a few defects while to take some of the pressure off getting each and every scratch. Think of it as training wheels.

Found this one quite interesting. Quite a bit that goes into making a good soap.

I posted this on Autogeek when it was published last week. There is a lot of push back in that community regarding the success and popularity of the ADS brand, apparently its over-hyped, another white label that doesn't make their own chemicals, just a Youtube brand. And yet, if you listen to Bradley, he clearly knows what he is talking about. And Youtube came AFTER the brand was created, Bradley has previously admitted being in front of the camera is not a natural thing for him. As for the hype? It's not hype if the products are brilliant. Case closed!

Agree 100%. Their products are awesome and I like what I see in Bradley. He seems like a good, honest, down to earth bloke that knows his craft.

For somebody who took delivery of a Waxit Enthusiast Car Polishing Kit a few days ago, this video from TRC is perfect timing!

The Koch Chemie Polishing Line Explained By Experts

Can't wait to starting using this kit in the coming days.
I have three other cars available to practice on... before I get to the Mustang! :giggle:

You're going to love the end result. I just finished a 4 day process last week of dialing in our Lexus. Full decon, polish and ceramic coating.
Not going to lie, its a time consuming and tiring job, but the results is what I really enjoy and boy does it make the elbow grease worth it.

Yeah I pretty much just stick to the sticker recommendation. So I run 32-33PSI cold.

Polisher training wheel about to go on, and dumb questions follow....

S650 Mustang Aussie S650 Paint protection and detailing thread 20251023_174026_1200

My partners vehicle: 2019 Honda CRV, never been previously polished before.
I may have gone over it with Beadmaker following a wash last year.
(Safe to say, there is no residual coating to worry about)

The car was decon washed last week with Lift.
Today it had a maintenance wash with GSF.
I plan to clay it tomorrow - this will be my first time at paint correction.

S650 Mustang Aussie S650 Paint protection and detailing thread 20251023_173917_1200

Q) After claying, do I rinse the car with the pressure washer and dry before the next step of polishing?

Q) Or just wipe off with MF towels as I clay around the car?

I'm not sure about the Clay Lube residue and more importantly any grit and deposits that are dislodged from the paint from claying.

Standing by to be enlightened.

Correct. You want to give it a good rinse with the pressure washer and dry before polishing.
