Yep, I noticed. Unfortunately no 765 blower in the promo items. 🥺

Spend $500, and get $100 worth of member credit.

You never spend money to save money, but the $200 worth of credit I had from my Ego purchase almost a year ago was spent yesterday on things I would have been buying anyway. Chains for the chainsaw, blades for my reciprocal saw, hacksaw blades, and other consumables.

So if you were to buy the Ego 765 + battery & charger, it's a decent discount when factoring in the credit. (Which is valid for 12 months).

Awesome. I'll see if they have something similar. I'm itching to pull the trigger on a 765 combo.

Yeah agree corded is a drawback but, I have moved back from no touch and dry with blo dryer to large dry towel with ADS Amplify then blo dry for all the tight spaces only. The nozzle is the thing you have to get right you have three to choose from, I keep changing it but can never settle on one I think I am over thinking it I guess lmao.

Holy smokes. I just checked the specs on my current Ryobi blower. 84CFM.

I think I'll notice a bit of a difference going to a 765CFM blower. :like:

Now I'm thinking the Blo dryer you and xrs posted might be better for me. Cause it's heated, it might also be handy for healing scratches in my PPF (used cautiously). The only drawback is that it's corded.

Food for thought, thanks all.
What? Having a Big Boi doesn't interest you? :giggle:

Just bought the Blo Dryer to give it a go. I figure I've already got an extension cord out for the gurney so this shouldn't be too much of a PITA.

Just want something light/manageable to get some surface water off b4 towelling it. I'm finding one towel doesn't quite get the job done

What towel are you using?

For the last couple of washes, I've been using a high(er) pH soap to remove the coating of Bead Maker (it's resilient!), so I can give Collinite No. 845 wax a try in due course.

As the hydrophobic properties diminish, the blower isn't as effective, as fully expected.
I finish the job off with my trusty Bowden's Own Big Green Sucker.
Available from the usual suspects; SCA, Repco, Autobarn.
Just wait for the specials.

I don't know how this 70/30 1200 gsm towel compares with a TRC Gauntlet 70/30 900 gsm, because I've been so happy with the BGS, I have no reason to try something else.
A single BGS gets around the larger RAV4 in one go, and wipes the Mustang with ease.

Upsize your towel?

My $0.02 worth, which rounds down to....

The Bowdens BGS is an excellent towel, I still have a couple in service. In comparison, the BGS would be a competitor to the large size Gauntlet. You will note the GSM is lower for the Gauntlet, this is because of the different weave types between them.

Gauntlet Large -
- 50 x 75cm
- 70% Polyester / 30% Polyamide
- 900 GSM
- Hybrid/Shaved Split Loop

BGS -
- 40 x 70cm
- 70% Polyester / 30% Polyamide
- 1200 GSM
- Plush weave

The GSM difference in this case doesn't affect absorbency or softness. The Gauntlet's split loop design soaking more from less, however the BGS will feel softer and plusher. The only main drawback to the BGS is the weight once it becomes loaded up, but certainly not a deal breaker.

Price wise, at full retail both are within a few dollars of one another. You can save some money by stepping down to the medium Gauntlet, which is still big enough to deal with a Mustang sized vehicle. Otherwise, Bowden's products are often on sale, so be patient and wait for them to go on sale at one of the big box retailers.

No matter which you choose, always always wash a new towel before use. Some of the TRC towels are now being individually packaged, but the BGS isn't and will have been sitting on shelf for a while gathering dust.

Trust me, you certainly need them when using an EGO blower. Instead of the noise generated by a petrol engine, you get a high pitched shrill from the electric motor and impeller.

Unlike a petrol blower that has a large fan blade impeller parallel to the starter rope, electric blowers are similar to a turbo in that they suck air from behind and discharge in line with the blower tube.

The EGO arrangement is why they produce more CFM, its a more efficient design. In fact, a LB765 and LB880 are considered the most powerful handheld leaf blowers on the market, and that includes both battery AND petrol-powered blowers.

It's a 900 x 600 TurtleWax towel, maybe not as good as Bowdens etc...anyhow been meaning to get something to blow off water before towelling anyway and the BloDryer seemed cheap compared to investing in a new battery platform.

Car has PPF and IGL ceramic on it and I top it off after each wash with Gyeon Wet Coat as a bead maker to help with blowing off water

For those that are interested in a more nerdy test of these blowers, here is Matts video:

I also managed to get some store credits which made the 765 combo a little cheaper.
