I cannot get any FM or AM stations. How do I raise the antenna ?
In 1997 I had a Maxima and just switching on an FM/AM station the antenna would go up

It's not power up and down. On the coupe it's the stationary shark fin on the roof and if you have a convertible it has to be screwed on and off and the dealer may have forgot to put it on. I have a convertible and it was in my bag of parts in the trunk.

So funny I came on here to start an antenna thread. I have the convertible and I wanted to share the Stubby from the S550 screws the on just fine. I could do without the advertising in white lettering on the side of the antenna, but the aesthetics more than make up for it. I had one on my S197 and never really noticed a depreciation in FM reception.

What's with all these dealers not following the PDI? It's literally a step-by-step guide so there are no foul-ups. I thought I had convertible gap covers in the trunk, turned out to be the underbody strakes that come with the PP. PDI step 3. Not excited about my first oil change.

Nice, I have been wondering about a factory antenna alternative. I kind of like this spoiler but it won't clear the factory antenna on a convertible. I wonder if it would clear this stubby antenna. Has anyone ran one of these stub antennas with an aftermarket spoiler or any kind?

Not sure if this picture helps at all. Do you have anything just a hair longer than 3 3/4" that you can put in the place of the antenna if you unscrew the original just to see if it'll work? I saw in another thread there might be an antenna delete screw-on option out there if you don't care about AM/FM reception.

Yea, I'm sure I have something. Looking at it again just now and comparing how the lines of the aftermarket spoiler run to the body line of the car where I have the red mark it looks like the factory antenna would almost clear the aftermarket spoiler. I'm guessing the factory antenna would barely touch it and the stub antenna would probably clear it with ease.

I have used the Cravenspeed stubby on my past 2 cars, 2012 and 2015 verts. Always like the look and have never noticed a problem with reception. I already have my new one for the 2024 when she finally gets here.

They are actually in the rear window as part of the heated rear screen on coupes. Shark fin is for GPS and 4G, twin shark fin for 5G
