I was at first really concerned about the "MOD" on the plaque put after reading post 53 I realized that's probably where it came from. We know the filters were changed, no big deal. The traps really do not mean anything and the exhaust, if anything was really done, should have no future effect on the warranty. So I totally agree, relax and enjoy.

But if Dr. is really concerned, just find a good mechanic and let them give it a once over. Just for peace of mind.
I've had many new cars over the years and can count on one hand how many times I relied on the warranty for an issue with the car. I would think Carmax would know enough to check if the carbon traps have been removed. I agree, I just need to relax...easier said than done :(

Honestly, if it were me I'd look for a top quality independent mechanic who specializes in hi performance cars. I wouldn't trust a Carmax mechanic to know what they are looking for.
I may do that.

@DrRaphael Post pictures of the car if you can. The color combo with the orange stickers is something that we have not seen.

Unless the Carmax tech was a real Mustang guy they would be clueless. Just us nerds here on social media forums. :cwl:

Scares me to an extent and other times not. don't like not knowing.

PS Are we listing all the cars we ever owned in our profile?
That’s the problem with used. New may not have costed much more if you financed since Ford is still offering cut rate financing on 2024 models.

I only list current vehicles. I’m 61 and have had a lot of vehicles over the years, including 74 Mustang, 88 Mustang GT with T-tops, 98 Taurus SHO, 22 Ecoboost.

The snake oil here is insane. How is there 7 pages of responses on this.

Homie has some air filters and a sticker on his car. You're fine and the car is fine. Carmax is a fantastic company and most Carmax related comments I've seen here are just wrong.

I’m not sure but I do not think anyone here has come down on Carmax. They are a good company, at least the Myrtle Beach location. My son in law got his BMW there. But they do sell cars that have been modified. And, honestly, that’s reasonable since not everyone frequents the online forums. You can’t find something if you don’t know what you are looking for.

Got it. I'm pushing 77 and started with a '56 Chevy in 1965... a lot of cars since then.

I considered leasing a new Mustang but didn't see anything I wanted. This one was about $8,000 less than a new one and had only 2500 miles.

its clear the car has been modified by the previous owner (those stripes arent factory). my guess is someone had a shop do some work on it and added a little show plaque for making over 500hp
To be fair, you can get the extra 16hp from 486 to 502 from a good CAI. I'd hardly call that modded, but I get that it's enough for some people.

I just got this 2024 GT Premium last week. On the lower door is a decal that says "S650 503HP" I thought the GT with optional exhaust system put out 486 HP and only the Dark Horse had 503 HP. Was the former owner daydreaming, or am I missing something?
To be fair, that's only a 16hp difference for 486 to 502. You can get that boost with a decent Cold Air Intake. I'd check the air boxes to see if them or the filters are stock or aftermarket. If they're aftermarket, that's probably where the hp is coming from.

Yes, the previous owner did do some modifications which is OK with me unless it causes an issue with the factory warranty.

no aftermarket intake for the S650 has done that yet

You’re way behind. OP has already told us that he has Steeda filters. The issue of carbon traps has yet to be determined.

I agree. I’d think it’s the higher flow ”blue” filters, carbon trap delete (unconfirmed), h or x-pipe (unconfirmed), and e30 fuel (just a guess). Unless there’s some other mod like long tube headers and high flow cats or cat delete, it’s hard getting that much bump from an active exhaust car from the factory.

Spoiler alert: it's nothing
