That’s difficult to answer definitively since there are different levels/stages of Roush Mustangs that include different suspension mods & different output level superchargers. Just as there are different non-Roush Mustangs (GT, DH, Shelby, Handling Package, PP, etc. Mine had 710 hp & I think it was a Whipple SC (looked like the pics I’ve seen of Whipples). Of course, 800+ hp (Stage 2 Whipple) is certainly better than 710 no matter which SC is used. All I can say was it was great fun & plenty powerful as I’m sure they all are.As far as turning it up, do the Roush tuned cars perform as well as the spicy Whippled cars?
Thanks. I’m assuming apples to apples max effort comparisons (track or Dragy times). I’m considering another S650 (or S550). Been out of the Mustang game for a year so I’m not up to date yet.…Of course, 800+ hp (Stage 2 Whipple) is certainly better than 710 no matter which SC is used…
Story time: My dad drove a Ford Festiva in the nineties, and was the car I learned stick on when I turned 16. He pulled up in front of a 7-11 once, and a bunch of dudes started laughing and asked what lawnmower he robbed to power that thing. "Not at all", he said with his British accent, "I simply raise the bonnet, and twist the rubber band to full tension, like one of those Gullows wooden planes. Gets me 100 miles." Dudes keeled over laughing.I'd never criticise anyone for adding more grunt. Too much is almost enough.
But I'll pass, stock power can get me in plenty of trouble as it is. If I did track days or such I might think differently.
And, I much prefer blowers over turbos. Turbos always feel like someone has stretched the rubber band and let it go.
