$20 Driving Shoes? You Bet!

Forum, if you've seen my posts, you know I've been looking around for some driving shoes for my 2024 GT 6-speed. I tried the traditional Clark's driving loafers, which are very nice stiff leather. They will take some breaking-in. Not now in winter. Then I tried some of my favorite Skechers with a grabby sole and their famous cushioning. Much better because they can be worn all day on hard pavement. But they aren't real driving shoes and are a bit over padded for driving. Less clutch feel. I was stumped. Then I looked at Zappos, my favorite online shoe store. It's there that I saw these Croc style "driving shoes" for $20 (the link is below). $20 bucks?? I had to try them! They arrived today. It's been snowing. So I put on my heavy wool socks (these shoes have no warmth at all.) Jumped into the Mustang and took a test drive wherever there was dry pavement. OMG! WTF! These work really well! They don't come in half sizes, so I went a half size larger with my heavy wool socks. These have great clutch feel and drive very well. I don't know about summer temperatures. Maybe a size smaller and go barefoot in them (like pool shoes.) Whatever, I have new favorite driving shoes! For $20!!! The link:

That's what I thought. Then I changed the color and the price went way up. The $22 deal is only for that gray/yellow color. I don't mind the colors.

Sorry for a bit of thread stealing... I had an accident investigator tell me some years ago, that sandals, flip-flops, and similar designed shoes (?), were responsible for the majority of gas/brake misapplication. I'd bet he was correct!

I can understand the driving problems with a stick shift and sandals. The "driving shoes" I posted are a full shoe that goes around the heel and fits snugly. They're just that rubbery Croc material. Since I got them I've driven a couple more times with them and it's all good. They are now kept on the floor of the passenger area.

Man, I drive more than 28 years with all type of shoes, sandals and even bare foot sometimes. Never had any issues on the manual nor automatic.

Me too. I was a commercial driver. Drove everything but a school bus. I never had trouble driving while wearing what I liked. But there's always somebody who's foot slips out of their sandal while they're braking, turning or backing up. Then trouble. So, for me, sandals rarely went driving. I didn't take chances in somebody else's truck. Once incident and the party's over.

I never wrote anything about driving barefoot. Just sandals and the Croc driving shoes. No need for the 'sorry'.

No problem. It’s legal in all 50 states "including California." I find that amusing. Is California not part of the 50 states anymore? Not that the legality of it matters.
