  1. PREMIUM-VS-REGULAR GAS FOR 2024 GT??

Depends upon how long one expects to keep the car. For me none of that sounds like a good idea. To wit: I did manual tranny fluid at 10,000 (Motorcraft DCT), diff oil at 8,000 (Motorcraft hypoid + xl3), oil changes at 4000 and 8000 (now on Motorcraft full synth). I have 2 extra take off wheels...
  2. Anyone watching WEC, there’s a couple GT3 Mustangs?

It’s in TX, pouring rain. 6 hour endurance.
  3. FORD RACING is Back... Ford rebrands Ford Performance as Ford Racing & promises "First new car revealed in January"

Took over Red Bull engines from Honda. https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/35581477/ford-announces-return-formula-one-2026-red-bull
  4. Auto StartStop

You have the automatic, 1 mpg better. I wasn’t looking at autos when I bought mine.
  5. Auto StartStop

No the gas guzzler tax is federal. Mine’s an AZ car, it’s on the Monroney (upper left corner).
  6. Auto StartStop

It’s supposed to save 1 mpg on the EPA test. Here’s my Monroney sticker for comparison. Mine doesn’t have it (2024 Job 1 car) so I had to pay $1000 gas guzzler tax. DH doesn’t have it so there’s an even stiffer gas guzzler tax on that, maybe because of the different gear ratios. EPA is trying to...
  7. Changed MT-82 DCT Transmission Fluid with no curse words uttered.

“Dogam futher mucking bun of a sitch.” It was definitely a lot easier than I thought it would be. Especially for 61 year old chubby me.
  8. New Firmware update

Was it this one? Or is there yet another? This one reset a bunch of stuff.
  9. Changed MT-82 DCT Transmission Fluid with no curse words uttered.

I used a low profile jack (Harbor Freight) and pad (Amazon) to lift the front passenger tire onto a ramp (Rhino). Chocked both driver side wheels Had just enough room to loosen (and tighten) the fill plug with a short 8mm Allen socket (one of the auto part stores, O’Reilly’s maybe). Drained out...
  10. Oil Change - part number for the push pins ?

These are the Ford ones for the ones that break 100% of the time. They come in 4 packs, but are sold individually.
  11. Missing bolts engine bay?

Now I’m curious. I have a Job 1 GT from late 2023, therefore like a Dark Horse it does NOT have start/stop. I don’t have anything in those holes either. Could this be related to not having start/stop, auto vs. manual (I have a manual), Mustang vs. F150 Gen 4 Coyote (there are some internal...
  12. WHIPPLE CALIBRATION & OTA UPDATES

That’s an older one. I got it back in January. This one is for a Check Engine light.
  13. Next gen Mustang (8th gen) will stay gas-powered ICE well into 2030's

Same thing happened when the Jeep JK 4 door came out in 2007. It too was sacrilege but they sell a lot when compared to the 2 door. I showed a rendering of the 4 door Mustang to my wife when the rumors started. She liked it. She always liked the look of a a Porsche Panamera. So if it keeps the...
  14. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

Yep, in traffic, at a stop light, on hot asphalt, at lower elevation, in the city (heat island). What drives me crazy is my wife's 5.7 Hemi Durango and my daughter's 3.6 Jeep Wrangler specify only 0w-20.
  15. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I guess you need to look at your goals then too. How about shoehorning a Gen 4 coyote into a Tesla (or conversely a Plaid Tri-motor into an S650) and call it the “Mach-E-Avelian”. But here on Terra Firma, it is not a question of is gunk bad, It’s a question of how much is bad. I’m sure a little...
  16. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I get it. I was really on the fence. Not about spending the money but inheriting all the risks vs. the reward if there even is one (to your point about gunk). Also, I had a problem with each of the options between J&L, UPR, Mishimoto, Evil Energy, Ford Performance, and SPE Motorsport. Because...
  17. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

Even with a cold air intake, look at my IAT of 110 F compared to ambient 109 F. Also, here’s when it 115 F, but I didn’t catch the IAT. At a traffic jam or light, I get really high IAT, I’m assuming that’s when I need use point in octane I can get.
  18. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I look at it as risk/reward tradeoff. Installing one and not properly maintaining or running it in less than ideal weather conditions has its risks. Having one has its potential for reward, cleaner intake, less carbon buildup somewhere (pistons, intake valves), higher octane. You won’t know...
  19. Dark Horse Mustang vs. C8 vs. M2 (Savage Geese Comparison Review)

When I was in the market to buy a new sporty car, I was also considering a Subaru WRX even thinking of the STI, which is no longer made. Although is a 4 door, it could still handle 4 people with groceries unlike the vette. My wife was the deciding factor on that.
