plastic will get just as hot. Throttle bodies (of which there are two) are metal. plus aluminum loses heat really quickly unlike steel or cast iron. You can handle a cookie sheet within a couple minutes from being in a hot oven with bare hands. besides, the air isn't in that tube long enough...
