Yes the $3k margin is for Ford but obviously there will be a dealer margin as well. In the UK the dealer margin on the Mustang is about £4k but on a Fiesta it was about £300.

Higher spec cars of any model are always better from a profit point of view and that $3k is an average. Looking at engine costs, a Coyote is around £14k and a 2.3 Ecoboost £3k. There will be other mechanical / trim differences too.

There are no big profit items in the car world other than Ferrari and a few other premium marques. The figures have been posted before but Ford Blue make about $3k per car. Ford 2023 Earnings Ferrari - €117k per car Porsche €22k per car JLR €8k BMW€7k The rest are all around €3k or less...

I've just noticed that the ambient lighting on my car is different side to side by 1 colour choice. As in passenger door v driver door are consistently 1 colour different on the scale from each other!

I would disagree with just one thing here. The EV's are the FUTURE business not a failing business and hence the huge amount being invested in that future. Ford either develop EV's fast and hard or they will simply vanish as the global market changes. There are Ford cars that are made elsewhere...
