In a magnetic damping system, we take a normal shock and fill the oil with suspended iron particles. A pair of electromagnetic coils (to cancel eddy currents) are used to generate magnetic fields, which can be adjusted 20000+ times a second.
The magnetic field changes the oil from a Newtonian...
Performance Package, MagneRide, and Active Valve Exhaust are the big three as far as impacting driving experience. None of them are necessary, they're just options. That said, adaptive suspensions are a pleasant luxury on unpleasant roads.
Hah! It would certainly have a high price: the convertible top is a $5500 option on the Ecoboost and GT. That puts the Dark Horse Premium Convertible at $68430 MSRP.
Agreed, I doubt it's calibrated for passenger cars. Ford lists these weights for the automatic-transmission (10R80) variants of the S650 Mustangs:
Model
Weight
Ecoboost Fastback
3588 lbs.
Ecoboost Convertible
3741 lbs.
GT Fastback
3832 lbs.
GT Convertible
4012 lbs.
Dark Horse...
Yes, the knock sensor allows the ECU to pull timing to run on 87 octane. Once you return to premium fuel, it'll advance the timing back to full power as you're driving.
Heh, that was my problem. Must haves:
Grabber Blue paint
Emberglo interior
MagneRide
Convertible
I just quickly accepted that I'm not getting a massive discount, because a MagneRide Convertible Ecoboost is a rare build.
Yup, dropped from 840 to 790 credit score from early loan payoff on current car and Ford Financing credit pull. Of course the 1.9% financing Ford offered me will expire before my car arrives, but whatever, I'll pay cash if they don't have an incentive rate in the Fall.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S have compromises for longevity and wet-weather driving. If you want to be able to put down all of the power of a supercharged coyote S650, you'd want to upgrade to a drag radial.
Contact your dealership to do two things: verify your email address and get the 4-character Order ID they used for placing your order. Incorrect email will prevent you from getting the auto-generated messages from Ford. Once you have the order ID, Ford's support chat can look up your order.
The non-PP suspension is already comfortable for normal driving. I'd argue MagneRide's benefit is letting you get the Performance Package's stiffer suspension without losing street comfort.
Yes. The SelectShift (10R80) is a planetary transmissions with a torque converter, it's a radical departure from how a 6MT works. "No Lift Shift" has more in common with motorcycle quickshifters.
I placed an order directly with Barton Industries to get the kit without engraving. With the current 20% off sale, it was $176 for brushed aluminum with a Grabber Blue shift knob.
-40, when it's so cold you can respond to "Fahrenheit or Celsius?" with a simple "Yes".
For factory orders, you're at the mercy of the mass market. It's not hard to install an engine-block heater on the Coyote. Pull the freeze plug, install the heater and route the wires. I wouldn't let that...
Yup, for sure. Without magnetic dampers, the performance package is so much more rigid that it affects ride comfort. The "stock" GT and the Dark Horse represent the two most comfortable setups in my opinion.
CD sales have declined so precipitously that last year (2023) in the United States, vinyl records sold 49.6 million albums while CDs only sold 36.8 million.
The Bluetooth music connection in both the S550 and S650 works great with Android and iOS, if you're willing to convert your CD music...
