Recalls are safety related. There has only been one that I am aware of. Ford will not issue a recall, nor will the NTSB force them to, for non-safety related complaints, as they don't care if your panel gaps are not to your satisfaction or that your paint job has some bubbles.

Buy it, drive it, and do lots of research (e.g., on these forums) before spending any money on mods. You don't want to do something and spend the money until you are sure you will like it.
That certainly is one assumption. No, they won't work AS well as, say, a torque box brace or frame rail, but I bet they do increase rigidity at least somewhat.
