Some think this was a mach-e 1400 wing. I beg to differ, here's why. The vertical end pieces on the mach-e wing are completely flat. Here, they're very sharply angled. It could be a trick pulled with perspective, but I doubt it.
The mach-e wing also has a gap running along the mid surface of...
We know the Dark Horse S will be a dedicated race car like the R. That leads me to believing it would have a wing design similar to what the rest of these race cars have. There are some differences in those wings, but they all have that flatter, more squared off look to them. Unless the unique...
Yeah, we were saying it doesn't look like any of the wings of the upcoming mustang racecars which I'll show below. But it also probably wouldn't be a Shelby model being teased.
I thought that as well, but ford already tipped their hand so to speak and revealed what all of the s650 race cars would look like. This wing doesn't look like it matches any of them, it has a ton of curvature and most of those wings look pretty straight. Let's see if we can figure this out...
On the topic of a gt350, I remembered this sound clip. It's from the s650 race car that was revealed of course. But that could slightly hint at what a new gt350 would sound like, as it could be the same engine. Not exactly, but in that ballpark. If so, I'm all for it.
The way I see it, the s550/s650 are ying and yang. Good looking cars that look great in their own ways. I just personally believe the s650 took what the s550 introduced, cleaned it up, and made it more muscular/exotic looking.
To each their own, I love the s550, have since day 1. But the s650 improved on it in some ways. I never viewed the s550 front end as weak or too soft until I saw the s650. I've yet to see it in person, but virtually everyone who has walks away impressed. It's s550 all over again, disliked when...
It depends on how the additional complexity is incorporated and executed. My grandfather was a propulsion engineer for some of the most complex vehicles ever designed. The original Boeing 737,747, 757, and 767. He could tell you, one of the things that makes planes so safe/reliable is their...
You make some valid points, but I'd argue when you're buying a sports car, the feelings it gives you surpass the actual performance numbers. In terms of performance numbers, it's not terribly surprising to see that the m1 is faster on many tracks. That's just engineers doing what engineers do...
It's not just ford, the zo6's are also having some of their engines replaced sadly. Saw one that had engine issues after about 50 miles. Hope ford and gm are both able to perfect this type of design over time because it really is incredible.
Oh of course. I'll be curious to see how high the racecars with this engine rev. That could be an indicator of what a street version would be like, but we'll see.
No, not sure why the 7.3 has become a sticking point for the mustang community. If Ford went that route, we'd be lucky if it had 600 hp, and it would rev like a slug. We'd be much better off with the new 5.4 that's just as powerful, race proven, and more exotic.
I think it's extremely likely that the 5.4 will indeed be used as the basis for s650 "Shelby" models. That engine pumps out over 600 hp, which would be a considerable improvement over the dark horse and gt350. I believe that engine is also coyote based, so fingers crossed, it's reliable, unlike...
This pic has continued to ease my mind over the s650's proportions. Initial real world pics made the flat section of the rear look huge and disproportionate. But this shows just how good the side profile actually looks when you take a proper picture.
I believe you're quoting the times for the manual. When the 10 speed gets first came out, they were marketed as being capable of a sub 4 second 0-60 time. I believe a few magazines were able to replicate this. I'm predicting around a 3.8.
I'm guessing mild but noticable improvements all around. The takeaway from a lot of auto journalists will probably be along the lines of "The s650 builds upon and perfects what the s550 started".
