  1. Stangmode from YouTube says S550 will be last Gen ICE GT500?!!!

We know S650, in terms of it being a pure CD6 architecture, was canned. S650 then became a heavily modified S550 with CD6 elements. I don't believe they'd be able to offer hybrid powertrains without significant reworking of the the S550 architecture.......hence the mix of both architectures. If...
  2. Stangmode from YouTube says S550 will be last Gen ICE GT500?!!!

Dodge's platform will be all new, designed as an EV from the outset. S650 is a heavy evolution of S550 and I'd imagine making one particular model (GT500) a pure EV would be full of compromises. Perhaps the next GT500 will be the first model introduced on the 8th Gen/"S750". I can see a case...
  3. Stangmode from YouTube says S550 will be last Gen ICE GT500?!!!

And what sources might those be? I'll credit him with the fact he does know Chris Stevens who designed the '18 refresh and the '20 GT500, so Chris could have given him a steer. But I suspect he's assuming. For all we know there won't be a GT500 for S650, although given Shelby's current close...
  4. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

The SEMA Lithium (EV) S550 concept had a vertical centre screen........doesn't look too bad :)
  5. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

I absolutely agree! For S650, I hope they keep the look of the S650 interior, but upgrade the quality of the plastic and leather. Give it an 8" screen for the base models (replacing the embarrassing 4") and make a 10 or 12" screen for the Premium trim. The screens need to be integrated into the...
  6. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

Haha....well, yeah, I too would be pushing ahead to bring S650 to market as soon as possible. I do like the sound of S650 being the first hybrid pony car and, as you say, it paves the way for a full EV (although the SEMA Lithium show car has already done that to a small degree). But, right now...
  7. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

I wouldn't want to make that decision either. Be the first to market with an EV pony car? You could either corner the market, or be the first to find all the issues building and selling such a car could bring. My point above, about the headlamp, must surely mean Ford are a loooooong way down...
  8. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

I always appreciate your input............apologies for putting pressure on you, but you're our only hope Obi Wan :giggle: My hope is that things are progressing, albeit slowly and with obvious delays caused by Covid last year. We also know Ford are cracking down on supplier leaks. A friend of...
  9. "Next-Gen Mustang NASCAR Is Built For EV Tech"

I know it probably won't happen, but it seems a shame iftwo Mustang racecars are V8 hyrbids but we don't see a similar road car. I'm trying to keep the faith here 😁
  10. "Next-Gen Mustang NASCAR Is Built For EV Tech"

OK, not strictly S650 news but heck, I'm grasping at straws here! https://fordauthority.com/2021/07/next-gen-mustang-nascar-is-built-for-ev-tech-says-ford-exec/ Could this point to the forthcoming hybrid S650? We know the NASCAR uses a V8, so there will be a hybrid V8 NASCAR in the future. I...
  11. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

I, too, prefer a straight six. I've had a couple of BMWs and my 330i had a sweet, sweet engine. But for me, I always lusted after Ford's "European" V6s, as they were considered large engines for the UK, back in the 70s and 80s. I had several 2.8i "Cologne" V6s in Capris (not the Fox body Mercury...
  12. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

I'd expect a Gen 4 Coyote. 480hp minimum, but it'd be cool of they make it 500hp n/a as this will likely be the last V8 Mustang. Perhaps the 500hp n/a may be reserved for another SE (Mach 1 or Boss). I really REALLY want a Coyote hybrid though, as this may be the only way a V8 could be...
  13. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

Lets not derail this into a pro/cons of EVs.....................this is about S650! She's out there........I can sense it! 😁
  14. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

Anything is possible, which is why I'm so anxious to see the S650 mules and prototypes, as that should give us an indication to what to expect. My hope is that S650 remains a heavy reworking of S550, with all areas of the car updated and upgraded, because it will very likely be the last Mustang...
  15. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

Just like the '20MY, the '21MY will run until the end of the year, with '22MY starting at the beginning of January. So, in theory, the '23MY should start in January 2023, which gives us more like 18 months until we'd expect to see S650 production begin. 2021 MY ordering ends October 1, 2021...
  16. Rumor: S650 Mustang 4-Door Sedan Will Debut in 2022 with 3 Engine Options

It was the work of a female design student, not related to Ford :like:
  17. S650 is out there somewhere, isn't she?

S650, that is. I know, I know, patience TT! @amk91 has already told us it could be much later this year before we see S550 based mules, never mind full on S650 camo'd prototypes, but that doesn't make the waiting any easier. Mach 1 development completed a while back, so I'd assume all Team...
  18. Rumor: S650 Mustang 4-Door Sedan Will Debut in 2022 with 3 Engine Options

Matt won't have made this up, he's better than that. His source would have to have had some level of credibility in order for him to report this. That being said, I still have a hard time believing much of what was discussed. Time will tell though.
  19. Rumor: S650 Mustang 4-Door Sedan Will Debut in 2022 with 3 Engine Options

I think it would be a cool twist.....a new Falcon born from the bones of the new Mustang, considering the original Mustang was born from the bones of the original Falcon. I'm sure it'd go down a storm in Australia. You guys hung onto the Falcon name for a long time and I suspect there's more...
  20. Carl Widmann, former Mustang chief engineer, hints at the future of the coyote

'Cmon, it's the Coyote as we know or it nothing. Like or not, Ford and others are being pushed to build EVs by worldwide legislation. Billions of $ are being spent developing those EVs so any crumbs left on the table will go towards tweaking Coyote if we're lucky. Our dinosaur V8s aren't dead...
