I laughed at this at first...........but you could be on to something. Obviously Ford wants to keep the styling hidden for now, so reliable camo would be a high priority. BUT......if they were going to test the camo's durability, you'd assume they'd be able to do that on their private test...
How strange. Surely there must be some S650 elements they're trying to hide? If not, I really don't recall seeing a mule (as it's S550 based) so heavily camo'd !!
And the same might happen now. New Evos & Mondeo have now been shown and IF S650 shares some design details (its bound to) we'll once again hear the "it looks like a Fusion/Mondeo coupe" just as S550 was derided as a Fusion coupe. If S650 had debuted back as a '21 like it was originally supposed...
Actually, those Mondeo headlamps are very cool (much like the Evos).........I think they'd work well on S650. My only concern is it would be nice if Mustang had them first, otherwise it seems it's borrowing design from other cars.
It would be nice if there were differences between Ecoboost and GT at the front, at least more so that S550 offered, which was effectively a slightly different grille.
Most reveals are now done online............and I suspect it'll be the same for S650........no sooner than 6 months before production begins in my opinion.
However, it will get a public unveiling afterwards, so perhaps Detroit in September.
I just did a quick Google to make sure Tom spells his surname with an E.........and came across this, which I'd missed. Tom has now retired from Ford 😭

I met Tom very briefly in Dearborn a few years back. A...
Ha, yes, this one definitely appeared to be a genuine spy shot. If you've seen the film/documentary "A Faster Horse", Dave Pericak describes when they were ready to start driving the first prototype on the road. He told Tom Barnes to do the honors and Tom came back and said something along the...
Jem mentioned the corner pockets/air intakes in the front bumper are much like the Mach 1. Perhaps when the camo drops a little more, we'll be able to see this. As it stands, your render certainly captures what "appears" to be under the camo though :like:
One thing I don't think that's been mentioned...................how the heck did the photographer manage to get these shots? These look to have been taken at the small test track in Dearborn. This is surrounded by a 10 foot high wall and I suspect the only way in is via a security gate.
I...
At last!!! :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:
Just for reference though Ford, it was my birthday last Friday. Still, as presents go, I don't care that this one is late :rockon:
If there's one good thing in S650 being a heavily revised S550, its that the proportions are unlikely to change. I'd imagine all of the "hard points" will remain as they are.
But here we are, 16 months after Ford revealed the "Progressive Energy In Strength" sculpture, and we've still no more...
Sort of related news...........at least as far as shortened model years are concerned.
