That may be true but look what's happening with its closest rivals. Challenger becomes a pure EV and Camaro dies in '24. Given either of those scenarios, I'll take a warmed over S550 and be thankful we have another generation to enjoy.
I honestly think if the S650 hybrid isn't a V8, they may as well stop selling it here in the UK.
Whilst other engines obviously have their place, sales of the S550 were 80/20 in favour of the V8 over the Ecoboost. So much so that Ford UK stopped selling the Ecoboost 2 model years ago.

I think it's a safe bet the Coyote will be around for the duration of S650. I'm expecting......or rather hoping, for a Gen 4 with at least 480hp and perhaps a slight bump in torque over the current car (remembering the '22 lost 10 horses down to 450).
A Coyote with hybrid assist will enable the...
EVs are here to stay and they WILL chip away at ICE sales. However, lets not turn this thread into an EV bashing one.......the point of the thread was to celebrate there will be an ICE in the S650 for a while and it WILL still see development.
:)
Depends on what you're "enthusiastic" about. Pure performance? Sure, EV every time. Me? A car needs to have soul, and a big part of that soul is the noise and sensations of an internal combustion engine, preferably a V8. That's what I'm enthusiastic about :)
Yep, Ford can claim they had the first pony car and the last ICE pony car...........and at a push (although I'd argue differently) they could claim the first EV pony car with the Mach E.
"Farley noted the company would increasingly focus its ICE business around products with passionate owners, like Bronco SUVs or Mustang sports cars"
This, as part of a wider conversation on Ford's strong profit in Q4 2021...
Indeed, although I've never driven a car with them. Over here in the UK we still tend to STILL call them "wing mirrors" as the fenders are called wings here (I've no idea why though!!).....despite them now being mounted on the doors.
For what its worth, at least one prototype is still out there on the track, at least as of yesterday.
I belong to a Facebook group (Mustang Owners Club of South East Michigan) and there's a guy on there who regularly tests pre-production models, most recently the Mach 1 and Bronco. He even...
Good effort. I don't Ford producing a "long tail" version of S650 though :)
The "bump" at the base of the A-pillar is intriguing though. You'd expect the side mirror to be several inches further back.
The GT4 car won't race until 2024......and the updated GT3 will race in 2023, so I still think the road car will be revealed before the racers.
I wouldn't get too carried away with the image above.
