  1. This is going to be rough but this car is not fast enough.

Cool story bro. Also, NHTSA doesn't have authority in Switzerland. You know... where Susten pass is.
  2. This is going to be rough but this car is not fast enough.

Exactly why I bought the Dark Horse. Everything I needed to know about bmw I learned when our bmw's brakes failed on Susten Pass. I'll take heavy feeling with good brakes vs. what some people call "refined" and prone to brake failures. I'll do me, you do you.
  3. Having issues updating software

So, if the OTA update fails, repeatedly are you saying that applying the module updates isn't a warranty covered repair? I know they won't simply flash a module- for example let's say you run into a TSB, something like '10r80 hunting for the right gear', Dealer applies it to your car because...
  4. Cruise Control invasive, touchy and strange behavior

rereading it, I see that now. I'd have to bet there's some collision avoidance strategy at work in addition to the adaptive cruise. pre collision assist...
  5. Having issues updating software

Oh man. I have felt that pain. It can be recreated by an overly intrusive and restrictive VPN client too. I think some of them are, but as I've said before on here, my '01 Lightning battery lasted to '08. My '17 Raptor battery is still going strong and my Dark Horse has no such issues as...
  6. This is going to be rough but this car is not fast enough.

I still have a '06 ZX14. That bike was super tame, until everyone figured out Kaw. had 2 sets of throttle plates and they didn't open the top set past 10% until over 8k rpms. I pulled mine like everyone else, which is worth 25 foot pounds of torque from about 2000 rpms to +15 of so at about...
  7. Cruise Control invasive, touchy and strange behavior

What's your following distance set to? Adaptive cruise can be frustrating in traffic, you've always got to watch for slow movers jumping left in front of you. If I see someone about to do that I keep my foot above the throttle and slightly gas it to override the abrupt slowing to keep...
  8. Anyone regrats their DH purchase?

Everything I needed to know about bmw I learned on Susten Pass when it lost the brakes coming into Andermatt.
  9. This is going to be rough but this car is not fast enough.

But ... You will still be on an Eyeabuser. :-P Better to give up some time in the race than be seen on an Eyeabuser ;-)
  10. Having issues updating software

I'm not really sure; I haven't had to fight this problem. I wonder if a BMS reset and full charge (not a trickle charger) would help at all? regardless, something is not right on these cars with the updates failing for charge state.
  11. Hidden tracking device plugged into OBD2 port

There was a local who had his truck jacked from a mall parking lot who did precisely that. he got shot, but the thief got shot far worse and his accomplice is now in prison. The thief immediately drew a gun, but the owner was also armed and shot first. It made the news, print and TV and...
  12. Car jerks during start

Have the transmission fluid level checked. I had some harsh shifting in my Raptor 10r80 and new fluid was a night and day difference.
  13. Having issues updating software

A point of correction: the trickle charger allowed you to work around the problem. The problem still exists, you just circumvented it.
  14. Hidden tracking device plugged into OBD2 port

IF you or are in a jurisdiction that actually will engage for a stolen vehicle. Many urban and suburban PD's and sheriff's offices will now take a report and list it as a stolen vehicle over the phone and that's it. You might get it back with loJack. Or your local PD may tell you how bad it...
  15. Having issues updating software

I'm not employed at a stealership so I'm not able to comment on it directly, but I did raise the issue with my service dept. and they were happy to schedule the update if needed... So IDK, but they seem willing to help getting the update done. ETA: I do not have failing updates, but I do have...
  16. mice in hvac???

Hopefully Ford has found a better way, but I bought a beater '91 or '92... Exploder Eddie Bauer with about 170k on the clock when I bought it. It read 70k but it didn't have a 6 digit odometer and it definitely rode like it had that many miles, maybe more. Among the many, many adventures I had...
  17. Having issues updating software

I mean... what life choices led you to Canada, Eh?! ;-) There's an ongoing thread about OTA updates and low battery charge state preventing the updates from taking place. I'd take a look at that thread, possibly get a look at the battery charge state and check in with the stealership service...
  18. This is going to be rough but this car is not fast enough.

You've obviously never piloted a tuned super bike. All the major liter bikes are capable of 9 second quarter miles with a rider of moderate skill. You don't even need a new one, 10-15 year old liter bikes are 9 second capable and can be had for $10k-ish. I agree the plaid is crazy fast and...
  19. New recall: water intrusion into BCM and connectors (25C43/25V546)

That is one heck of a sentence  I have learned 2 topical lessons related to this subject. 1) be happy they're recalling before you take delivery. I went in for service on my Ducati 1198s once only to be grounded, on the spot. "There's a recall on your bike, we have to check the fuel...
