One way to think of it - this is a new model, S650, of GT500, which most of us wish they had never stopped producing, anyway.
I think this is great news.
I do not understand the disappointment from others at all.
I could not afford a new GT500 half a decade ago, either, and I probably cannot...
I am guessing they may have improved cooling, aero, suspension design, and programming on things like the magneride. After all, it has been several years and a model change since the GT500 was produced, and who knows the last time engineers were allowed to improve upon the design when it was...
They even advertise changes to the rear suspension geometry. It looks like they went through and made small improvements everywhere. There is a lot that could be missed if you are reading quickly.
I think these are some serious track capable upgrades.
Anybody posting that this is a Whipple on a GT is an idiot. There is a lot to this. Read the lengthy list of what they changed.
It is basically the GT500 engine and transmission, although we do not know yet what they may have changed...
We'll see whether the priorities change about 20 minutes into a session on a 30° C day.
I hope you are correct. I do, however, have doubts. We'll see.
The Ford Racing cars (Dark Horse R) are up in the 270s 280s all the time. They have a large, upgraded aftermarket oil cool in front of the radiator and a custom dual pass radiator, in addition to ducting and permitted holes drilled all over the fan shroud until it looks like Swiss Cheese (the...
My idle oil pressure once up to operating temperature is 36, but that was not 241° inferred oil temperature reading, either. It is around 190°, so I expect that the oil pressure at idle would be less at such a higher temperature.
Well, when it comes to track capable they did a pretty good job of execution with the Dark Horse w/ handling package, considering the extra cooling, suspension, and, especially, brakes. If they are bringing out another Dark Horse that is the most advanced, powerful, and track-capable Dark Horse...
Did this thread help you with reaching a decision? None of us are going to have to look at these wheels except maybe in some pictures you post. You, however, are going to have to look at them every time you look at the car.
Most track capable ever with a supercharger? I am eager to see what they did for cooling. I think you all are looking at this the wrong way. The most track capable Dark Horse ever with a supercharger is a huge advancement.
They would not make a claim like this if the car is going into limp...
My car has an oil cooler from Ford, and I do not think I have ever seen 241.
I went through some twisties in track mode pushing the car at 90% and then about 80% as I got to a higher speed turn (public road, and I do not want to go to jail or put anybody in danger) and the inferred oil temp hit...
992 twin turbo 911 has oil cooler
C5 vettes I do not know, but they were not 500 horsepower and were not lugging 4000 pounds
C6 may have had an oil cooler if it was the Z51 or another performance package like that
